Ross Is 45!

Ross turned 45 on May 2! We all had breakfast together that morning and got to sing Happy Birthday to him, his favorite! It was a normal day where we went to work and school and then ate out at Bricktown Brewery for dinner. He had a few presents - his favorite BBQ sauce from Rib Crib and a mini donut maker he'd wanted. He also bought tickets to an upcoming Toad the Wet Sprocket concert in July. Overall I think it was a good birthday for him!

Fun & Games Teacher Appreciation Week

I was in charge of planning our Teacher Appreciation Week this year and we did a "Fun and Games" theme. It was fun to put together and I think everyone liked it. We created a Bingo game for teachers to play throughout the week and post pictures of them doing the Bingo activity on our Facebook page. We had five teachers participate and each won either a HyVee or Walmart gift card. It's fun being creative like this and it's fun helping people feel appreciated!

Book Vending Machine

Our PTA bought a Book Vending Machine for the school and I am very proud of this purchase! We had a Penny War in the spring and our goal was to raise $3,000 to put towards the machine. (The machine cost $6,000, but we had enough money in our budget to cover the balance. We thought $3,000 was a reasonable, attainable goal for the penny war)

We raised the $3,000 from the Penny War and were able to get the machine into the school, stocked, and running before the end of the year! We let all the graduating 5th graders vend a book the last week of school and then one student from each grade got to vend a book, too. I know the school will put this machine to great use next year for rewards and incentives. This was a really cool purchase and I'm happy to have been a part in making it happen! You can watch it vend a book here!

Lucy #11

Lucy turned 11 on April 28! I probably say it each year, but it's hard to believe how old she's getting and that we've been parents for 11 years now! Lucy had a good birthday. We had a family party the day before her birthday and on her birthday we went to church, hung out at home, and then ate out at Chili's. We had presents and cake both nights. Lucy got some really fun presents and had a great day overall!

My Supportive Daughter

Molly is so supportive and I have proof:

Or maybe she's not so supportive! She left this note for me by the kitchen sink when I had a sink full of dirty dishes. It was a Friday night and I had dishes piled up that I just did not have the motivation to do. I said to Ross and the girls "tomorrow Libby will probably be annoyed with today Libby that I didn't do the dishes, but I just can't do them now." Molly immediately started laughing and made up this note to put by the sink. She's so funny........ :)
