I did not like crossing on the rocks. I was afraid my foot wouldn't stay put on the rock once I placed it there, and in turn lose my balance and fall into the water, camera and video camera in tow.
Ross was very good to me when we crossed the creeks. He held out his arm for me to grab for balance and took the cameras from me a couple of times so I could cross without dropping them in the water. There was one thing he did, though, that really stood out to me during the hike. At one point when I was trying to cross and worrying about the rocks he said, "Don't worry, the rock isn't going to move."
I thought about that a bit and realized he was right, the rock wasn't going to move. I thought about it a little more and realized how true that statement is in relation to Jesus. Several verses in the Bible talk about Jesus being our ROCK.
- He is the ROCK, his works are perfect, and all his ways are just. Deuteronomy 32:4
- The LORD is my ROCK, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my ROCK, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. Psalm 18:1-3
- Turn your ear to me, come quickly to my rescue; be my ROCK of refuge, a strong fortress to save me. Psalm 31:2
- My salvation and my honor depend on God ; he is my mighty ROCK, my refuge. Psalm 62:7
- Trust in the LORD forever, for the LORD, the LORD himself, is the ROCK eternal. Isaiah 26:4
