Omaha 2023

We took our annual trip to Omaha this summr! We've been going to Omaha each summer around July 10 to celebrate my Gramma Ward's birthday. This year she turned 95!! It's always a quick trip, go up Friday, come home Sunday, and we usually just hang out at Gramma's house.

This year was similar, but we kind of made a vacation out of it! We got there Friday early evening and went to dinner then Saturday morning we went to downtown Omaha and walked around the Old Market area for a bit. We also found a cool park/play area that had some neat slides to play on. We also promised the girls a treat so Lucy got some Orange Leaf and Molly got a gas station slushy, which she loves! We went out to eat with Gramma that night and then Sunday before heading home made our annual stop at the cemetary to see my Gramma and Grampa Peterson and my Aunt Linda (mom's family). Overall it was a really nice trip!

Just A Little Redneck!

We might have been just a little redneck this summer when getting baseboard to our house for the basement! Ross wanted to have a few seems as possible with the baseboards and doing so meant we had to get 16' baseboards. This was doable, but we had to get them home!

First we had to trim them down to size a bit. They were 20' at the store and we didn't need that much, so had to cut them down to size. Ross did the main work on that but we all had fun trying to cut them!

We didn't want to rent a trailer or borrow a truck for such a small amount of items, so just rigged up our van to work! We stuck the baseboards through the front passenger side window and drove home with them sticking out! It was only about 4-5 miles, so not really bad. It did give us a good laugh!

First Day of School!

We started school today! Lucy is in 5th grade and it's her last year of elementary school! Molly is in 3rd grade and is kind of an "upperclassman" at school as they tend to break it into K-2 and 3-5 grades. Molly is super excited about her teacher, Mr. Lyons. Lucy had him in 3rd grade and it was a great experience for her. Molly was really wanting him and I'm glad it worked out for her! She doesn't have her two best friends from last year in class with her, but one of her best friends from 1st grade sits right across from her, so that's good!

Lucy has Mr. Post. She wasn't too excited about this as she thought he was really strict. I think her thoughts changed about him after meeting him and talking to him yesterday at Meet the Teacher. He said he was really glad she's in his class and although he probably says that to everyone, I think he sincerely meant it! And he has TONS of books in his classroom. I think Lucy is VERY excited about that!

So we're off to another school year! I'm the PTA president again and have already been working hard on back to school things and upcoming events! Back to to the grind!
