Screen Surprises

We have a Netflix subscription and both girls have favorite shows they watch on it. You can set up a profile for each person on your account who watches on Netflix which is great because it allows you to set preferences and security features on each profile.

The girls know how to change their profile picture and apparently discovered how to change their profile name, too. We pulled Netflix up to watch a show last week and found that Lucy had become Poop Sr. and Molly had become Poop Jr. So proud...............

Ice Cream Truck!

A few Sundays ago when I was taking a nap I was awakened to two little girls running through the house screaming "I hear the ice cream truck," and begging us to buy us something from it! We said okay and they ran outside just as the truck drove by. We have heard the ice cream truck a few times this year, but this is actually the first time we were able catch it as it was driving by our house. I remember always wanting an ice cream truck to come by our house when I was little, but we lived out in the country, so that never happened. I don't mind overspending on a popsicle from the ice cream truck for the girls because it's just fun! :)

PTA Fall Fest

Our PTA had a Fall Fest on October 8 and I was in charge of planning it. I worked with the four other ladies on our PTA board, but I did the majority of all the planning and behind-the-scenes things that needed to be done. I really enjoyed planning it and think I did a good job, too. It was a lot of work and I was glad for the break from it when it was over!

Fall Fest was a huge hit! We had about 700 people attend and made almost $4,000! That is a lot for our school and this even is our biggest fundraiser of the year, so I was so thankful for how well it went. A local church, Life 360, partnered with us and provided 9 inflatables that totally made the event! They also provided popcorn, snow cones, and cotton candy that we were able to charge tickets for, making those item sales straight profit for us. We charged a small admission fee and a small fee for the hot dogs and hamburgers we (Ross!!) grilled up at the event, but other than that, everything was free.

It was held outside on the playground and due to covid, there was no chance of moving it inside in case of rain. It turned out to be a beautiful, sunny (hot even) day and a great time all around! I'm excited for next year's event and hope it will be even bigger and better! My dad was super helpful in making some of the games for us and helping with a great deal of the setup and teardown for the event! And Ross took the afternoon off to help and he grilled up 120 hamburgers for us, too!

So Proud.....

This is something that Lucy created. In case you can't read it, it says:

"The main part of this page is highlighted." What she has highlighted spells out "poop" with about 10 million Os in it. :)

For whatever reason both our girls think poop is so funny and farting, too. Most of the time they tell everyone to be quiet so we can all hear their fart. They also like to sing about poop, too, and you can watch them here

We are so proud.

Privacy

The girls learn about online (and off-line) privacy at school. I think Lucy has learned this very well as sometimes she tells us we shouldn't even tell her name to people. This worksheet of hers cracked me up! She says that she shouldn't even tell people the name of her school because then people could go there and look her up! :)

Molly's Play Areas

Molly is so creative with her play areas! She has moved her Barbie house and all of its accessories downstairs. There's not a lot of play stuff left in her room now. The mess it makes in the living room is kind of annoying, but I don't mind because she loves to play with everything and plays with it quite a lot.

When Lucy got her new bed I moved her old headboard downstairs to get it out of the way. It didn't take Molly long at all to find a way to use it as a play place for her Barbies! :)

Fireplace Update!

Ross has been busy again, this time updating our fireplace! He painted the mantel white last spring and then in May he added the white shiplap going up above the mantel to the ceiling. The plan has always been to replace the tile around the fireplace and he finished that a few weekend ago.

We both had ideas in mind for what type of tile to use and it was actually Lucy's idea to use the tile we did. We both really like how it looks and Ross, again, did a superb job on this work!

How Well Do You Know Me?

We had Open House at school a few weeks ago and it was so nice to be able to go in the building. Last year it was a virtual Open House, so the teachers just sent us a video of the classrooms. It was nice, but kind of dumb! It's always fun seeing the classrooms and how everything is set up. I got to fill this out at Lucy's desk and thought it was so much fun! I had to answer questions about her and then compare my answers to her answers to see how well I knew her. I didn't get 100%, but I think I did pretty good!
