New Hair!

I got my hair cut a few weeks ago and changed my hairstyle. I figured it was time to change it after about 15 year of pretty much the same haircut. I had about 6" cut off and I also had bangs cut! I did have a few days of remorse where I hated my bangs and missed my long hair, but I'm good with it now! I like the bangs, but definitely need to have a bobby pin handy at all times to pull them back when needed.

Matching Outfits

I think I always wanted to have girls and had always thought it would be fun to put them in matching outfits. I've been doing that lately and think it's so cute to see them matching! I'm excited to get more matching outfits in the future and plan to match them long as I can!

Happy Father's Day!

Yesterday was Father's Day and we had a very nice day. The day started a little earlier than we had hoped due to Molly waking up overnight and Lucy waking up at 7am when she usually wakes up at 8am, but we powered through! We went to church, had breakfast at home, and then went to my parent's house for the afternoon. We went swimming, played some inside, and had dinner. It was a very nice, relaxing day!

I'm so thankful to have a very good dad. He's always been my coach in life and has taught me several valuable lessons, many of them not in words but in actions. He's also a very, very good Poppy, too! My kids and my sister's kids love playing with him and he loves playing with them, too.

I'm also thankful for the very good dad that my husband is. Ross has always been involved in our kids lives from day one. He got the job of changing all the yucky newborn diapers in the hospital with both kids and did so without complaining. And he was such a helper during their first months, too. When they would wake up overnight he would get them out of bed, change their diaper, and bring them to me to nurse. I don't think very many husbands help their wives out in that way and I'm so thankful Ross is one of those husbands who does. Ross truly loves our girls and loves playing with them, too. He's a good dad!

New Swing Set!

We got a new swing set and it is really neat! Ross' parents bought it for the girls and he and his dad put it together over the last few days. We had a swing set that had a slide and two swings, but they offered to buy us a bigger one and we said sure! We did a lot of searching and found the one we liked best. It was delivered in three boxes last Thursday and now it's all put together. Larry and Wanda came Sunday afternoon and Ross and his dad started working on it right away. They worked for about 2 hours Sunday night, all day and some into the evening on Monday, and then from about 8:30-2:30 on Tuesday. It's amazing to see how all the pieces came together!

It has a clubhouse, a little picnic table and bench, a spot where we could put a sandbox, a very nice slide, a rock wall, a glider, and two spaces for swings. We are so thankful and happy to have this. It's already been a lot of fun to see Lucy and Molly play on it! Thank you, Larry and Wanda!

The swing set came by freight delivery in these three boxes.

This was the beginning...a little intimidating!

They started by sorting everything out and organizing it in the garage.

Lucy was such a good "helper." :)

It's beginning to take shape!

Attaching the slide!

Here's a back view. Lucy is sitting at the little picnic table and bench and there's a rock wall, too.

The finished product!

Lucy's Playing

Lucy is so much fun! She's really beginning to play in lots of different ways. She likes to play with baby dolls and rock them to sleep. She likes to pretend play. She plays with magnetic "paper" dolls. She plays with our vintage Fisher Price farm set. She plays kitchen and always likes to make us chili. There's so many different things that she likes to do and it's so much fun to watch and listen to her play.

Recently I caught her playing with her Cinderella doll and her baby doll. Cinderella was rocking the baby to sleep. It's so sweet! Lucy has to be the funnest little girl I know!

Visiting Aunt Marilee

Last weekend, Memorial Day weekend, we went to my Aunt Marilee's grave to visit and bring her flowers. Quite a few years back, my Mom, Dad, and I put flowers on her grave and I have continued the tradition with Ross and now my girls. They're so young now that the concept is lost on them, but someday they will understand. It was a beautiful morning and was fun to let them run around and play. I'm sure Aunt Marilee would have loved my girls and enjoyed looking down and watching them play that day. :)
