Lucy's Door

Here are pictures of what is on Lucy's bedroom door right now. This just cracks me up! The poster is from a lip balm making set she got for Christmas. It basically talks about how to make it and the different coloring dyes you can put in it. I don't know why she wants this on her door, but it is pretty to look it! ;)

The cat pictures are from an old calendar. She cut them out and taped them on the door. They always make me laugh, especially the one right below the poster! I remember having kitten, puppy, and teddy bear pictures up in my bedroom as a kid! I like that she does things like that, too!

Lucy Is 9!!

Today is Lucy's 9th birthday, well technically not until 3:26pm! I'm sure I've said this each year in the past and will continue to say it each year in the future, but time flies by so fast! Lucy is such a great little girl! She is smart, talented, creative, kind, fun, and the list goes on and on!

We had a family birthday party last weekend and will go out to dinner at Culver's tonight to celebrate more. She's having a sleepover this Friday night for her friend party, so that will be fun! I do love her so!

Easter 2022

We had a nice Easter Sunday last week! It was rainy outside, but it was still a good day. It was actually our 12th wedding anniversary, so that made it extra special. I helped the girls color Easter eggs on Friday and Molly actually made some Easter eggs at school when she had an Easter egg hunt. The girls seemed a little less than thrilled with their Easter baskets, but whatever! Easter isn't really a gift-giving holiday in my book!

It stopped raining in the evening so we went outside and had an Easter egg hunt. Molly really enjoyed that! I love Easter. It's just my favorite!

Head Bandz!

We like to play games as a family and recently remembered that we have this Head Bandz game so got it out to play. It's pretty fun! You put a card on your head but don't know what's on the card. Everyone else can see it, so you ask questions to try to figure out what it is. It's a fun game!

Group Work!

One day last week Lucy's teacher sent everyone a picture of his students working on a project building something with Legos that day. He also posted a note saying "The building is easy, but the teamwork, communication, and taking turns...not so much." I thought this was so funny and made me laugh! Teamwork.......it's good to work together but can be so frustrating! You have the people that want to take charge and do it all. You have the people that want to criticize everything that's being done. You have the people that don't do anything at all but still get credit.......

What a great skill they are learning at such an early age!

12 Years!

Today is our 12th wedding anniversary! It's just mind-boggling how fast time goes by! I remember everything about our wedding day and all the details so well, almost like it was yesterday! It was just the most absolute perfectest day ever. We have had a good life together so far and look forward to many, many, many more years to come!

April Fools On The Girls....And Mommy!

I played some April Fool's Day joke on the girls and they played on on me, too!

The joke they played on my was unexpected and they totally got me! They have seen a prank on America's Funniest Videos where you fix the sprayer on your sink faucet to be one so when the faucet is turned on it will spray out at the person standing at the sink. They got me with this that Friday morning! I guess they'd been planning it with Ross for a few weeks and he helped them set it up while I was getting it ready that morning. I did get a little wet, but I didn't care! I loved that they did that! You can watch me explain it after it happened here

I pranked both girls in their lunch. For Lucy I emptied a Golfdish packet into a baggie and replaced it with Frosted Flakes. She eats the Golfish every morning during their mid-morning snack, so I knew she would find it. I did put a note inside the Goldfish bag saying April Fool's and that the goldfish were in a baggie in the front pocket of her backpack. I also pranked her by replacing the Lindor chocolate candies she likes with a strawberry candy. She said she knew something was kind of up with it because the wrapper was kind of squished in and not smooth like it should be. When we were talking about it at home we realized I should have put a hard-boiled egg yolk in the wrapper instead of the strawberry candy!

For Molly's lunch I got a big Kit Kat candy bar and replaced the candy with carrots! I wish I could have been there to see her open it because I know she would have laughed! When she got in the car after school I just looked at her and laughed and without having to say anything at all she said, "I still ate the carrots!"

I also tried to prank her in the morning with orange juice. The night before April 1, she had told me about a prank she saw where someone replaced orange juice with macaroni and cheese mix mixed with water. I liked this prank and knew I had a small mac and cheese packet and decided to do that for Molly after she told me about it. That didn't go over so well because she could tell the "cheese juice" didn't look like orange juice and she could smell it, too. I should have put it in a cup that had a lid!

I had fun with it all and I think the girls did, too! Now to figure out what to do next year!

Library Book Fail

A few weeks ago I returned one of Lucy's school library books to the Springfield Greene County Public Library! I have always been afraid of doing this and it finally happened! I realized it one Thursday evening when I was helping Lucy get her school library books together to return the next day. She has two books to return but we could only find one book. I had just returned some Springfield library books that morning and wondered if I had returned the school library book there on accident.

I checked to see if the library was still open and it was, so I gave them a call. I explained what happened and asked if they had found the school library book. The lady I spoke with said yes, let me go check the shelf and look through what we have. She came back and said yes, they did have that book and she put my name on it for me to pick up. I asked her if that happened a lot and she said yes, it did! She said there was actually a big stack of books that were school library books and not Springfield library books. I also found out that after a while the Springfield library will send the school library books back to the school. I found this to be so funny! And I plan to be more careful in the future when returning library books!

Gramma Ward

I recently went to Omaha for my uncle's funeral. He was 94 and lived a good life! While I was there I stayed with my Gramma Ward, who will be 94 this July. She is one neat lady! My Grampa passed away almost four years ago and she has lived by herself ever since. She even lived by herself for maybe a year before that because he was in a nursing home. She goes out some to get groceries or run errands, but mostly stays home.

In January she had a bike accident where she fell off her adult tricycle she was riding and ended up shattering her kneecap. She had surgery and two weeks to the day of her surgery she was back at home living by herself! She is such a great example of how to be when you're older! She exercises and eats very well. I love her so and hope to be like her someday when I'm 94!

Third Quarter Report Cards

The girls came home with their 3rd quarter report cards last week and both were really great! Lucy got all As and Molly got all 3s, which equals all As. She did get two 2s, but that I'm not worried about that at all! I'm so proud of both girls and how well they do in school. I'm also very thankful that they really like school, too!

Molly's Drawings

Molly came home with this drawing in her backpack one day. I just love it! I love her style of drawing and love how she always likes to draw our family, or especially just draw her and Lucy. She is such a sweet girl!

Helpers!

Our neighborhood is having an Easter egg hunt in a few weeks. We will walk around the neighborhood in a parade and pick up candy-filled eggs from houses that have signed up to be a "yard host." I made up a flyer for it and the girls helped me tape the flyers to each person's door. I was so thankful to have them help me. It went a lot faster with their help!

Fantastic Caverns!

We went to Fantastic Caverns over spring break! I remember going as a kid and have wanted to go now as an adult for a while and we finally made it happen. We all really enjoyed it so much that we upgraded our single day passes to season passes for just $5 each! We not have season tickets to Fantastic Caverns!

Fantastic Caverns is a drive-thru cave located northwest of Springfield. I have pictures posted below and I can't say that they turned out the greatest, so take my word for it that it's just really neat in person. It's amazing to think about how long the cave formations take to grow and to think about how long that place has been there!
