Memorial Day Tradition

Last Monday was Memorial Day, so we kept up our tradition of going to put flowers on Aunt Marilee's grave. I started doing this in 2008, I think, and Ross and the girls joined in with me each year as they came along and joined my life. The first picture below came up on my Time Hop app last weekend. I just love this picture! Lucy had just turned 2 and Molly was a baby at only 3 months old. I wish they could have met Aunt Marilee! I was only six when she died from breast cancer, but remember her being so much fun in the little time I had with her!

Home Run Derby!

Ross and the girls like to play Home Run Derby on his XBox and one night they were having the best time ever playing! I was downstairs and kept hearing tons of laughing and went up to find them having a blast on Home Run Derby. Ross said the girls were doing a really good job, too! You can watch them here!

Sisterly Love

I caught a fun moment of sisterly love one morning. Lucy and Molly were laying in Lucy's bed together and Lucy was reading a story. :) You can watch them here!

Niffa...Nilfa Wafers

Molly has recently discovered Nilla Wafers and loves to eat them, however, she has a hard time with the name. Sometimes she calls them "Niffa Wafers" and sometimes she calls them "Nilfa Wafers." It's so cute! You can listen to her talk about them here.

The Friendly Caterpillar And The Car Wash

We bought a "Friendly Caterpillar" sprinkler a few years ago and it has turned out to be one of our best purchases! The girls love to play in it and always have a great time doing so. One day we brought out the cozy coupe car and the girls decided to turn the friendly caterpillar into a car wash for the cozy coupe! You can watch the car wash here!

Basement Bike Riding

We have an unfinished basement that goes back and forth between being cleaned up and a little messy. When our stay-at-home order started back in March, I decided to clean up the basement to give the kids another place to play when it was cold outside. We have an old tricycle of Molly's and an old bike of Lucy's in the basement and once I cleaned it up, the girls had a blast riding those bikes around. One night we were all down there and the girls were pretty wound up. They were having biking races and all was good until Molly crashed. It was the funniest thing to me and it's like we were watching them riding just waiting for something like that to happen. She was okay, no one was hurt and nothing was broken, which is kind of amazing because she crashed into some drinking glasses that were on a shelf. Be sure to turn up your volume and listen for the crash at the end of the video here!

Scissor Cutting Concentration

Molly has done a good job with homeschool this last quarter of Pre-K. One of the things we worked on is cutting lines with scissors. I took a video of her practicing one day and just love it. I love to watch her mouth when she's concentrating. You can watch her here

Mother's Day 2020

Yesterday was Mother's Day and it was a very nice day all around! It began with breakfast in bed! Ross told me this was all Lucy's idea! I always get breakfast in bed for my birthday, but never for Mother's Day, so this was a treat! The girls each made me a card and Lucy even made me a book explaning all the reasons she loves me. :)

Our church is still having services online, so we watched church and then had a little breakfast. In the afternoon we went to my sister's brother- and sister-in-law's house for a late lunch and hanging out afterwards. It was a nice time together, especially having spend the last eight weeks not really being around anyone but our little family.

Our evening was uneventful with macaroni and cheese and hot dogs for dinner....lovely dinner I know! We FaceTimed with Ross' parents for a bit and then got the girls to bed. All in all it was a very nice day.

Ross Is 41!

Ross turned 41 last Saturday, May 2! As is the Ward family tradition that I grew up with (going back to my mom growing up as a Peterson), his birthday began with breakfast in bed. I'm sure it's the best part of his birthday every year...hahahah!

We hung out and did some things at home and then went to a park later in the afternoon to walk around. The play equipment at the park was blocked off due to the coronavirus, but we still had a great time walking around and taking fun pictures!

We got BBQ takeout for dinner, opened presents, FaceTimed with his parents, and then had birthday cake. It ended up being a good birthday, even though it was during a quarantine!
