Spring Break Fun

Our spring break was March 8-17 and we had a good week together! We didn't do much on Monday, but Tuesday the girls and I went to the Laura Ingalls Wilder house in Mansfield, MO. I'd wanted to take them there for a while and it worked out perfectly this week! I remember going as a girl with my mom and sister, but didn't remember much about it. I really enjoyed it and enjoyed looking through everything at the museum. It dawned on me, though, that being nine and eight, Lucy and Molly didn't quite appreciate the history as I did!

Ross took Wednesday-Friday off work and Wednesday we went to Silver Dollar City. It was a beautiful day to be there and for spring break week it wasn't too crowded. We went to a dog show while there and althought it wasn't the greatest, I'm glad we went to a show! We've been to SDC countless times and have never gone to a show like that! We hope to do more this season.

Thursday we took a day trip to Jefferson City, MO, the state capitol, and took a tour of the capitol building. This was very neat to me! I did this tour for my sixth grade field trip when I was a girl. Our school used to take that trip, but not anymore, so I'm glad we gave that experience and education to the girls. We also went to a Military and National Guard Museum. It was very neat to see all the items they had on display!

Friday was my mom's 73rd birthday so we went to lunch and shopping with her and then to dinner with our whole family that night.

My Favorite Mug

We went shopping with my Mom on her birthday last week and went to Hobby Lobby. It was fun just slowly walking around the store looking at everything. One thing in particular that I loved was this coffee mug that says: May your coffee be stronger than your daughter's attitude. I saw it and thought I had to have it! I had my mom take a picture of me with it and the girls.....the only thing I wish I could change is that I wish it said: "May MY coffee be stronger than MY daugther's attitude." Love my new mug!

St. Patrick's Day Annual Photo

I made sure to get my annual St. Patrick's Day photo this past Sunday! When Lucy was almost 2 and Molly was not even one month old, I took a picture of them on St. Patrick's Day in their green attire and every year since I've tried to recreate that photo! They are super thrilled about it as you can imagine......but they stll do it for me!

Corned Beef

Sunday we tried something new for dinner:  corned beef. I'm sorry to say it was a huge fail and we will not be trying it again! Ross wanted to try it and he took care of the cooking process. The girls and I were in the family room when he opened the package to start preparing it and all of a sudden there was a gross smell in the air. It was the corned beef! We tried to keep a good attitude about it, but when I looked in the oven when it was cooking, all I could think of was this scene from a Diary of A Wimpy Kid movie we all like to watch!

When it was done Ross cut up a few pieces for the girls and I took a piece on my plate. He took three pieces for himself. Molly tried her bite and did not like it. I tried my bite and had to spit it out in my napkin and told Molly to do the same. Lucy spit her bite out in the trash. Ross took a few bites but that was it. We all just did not like this item! We ended up throwing it all out (thankfully it wasn't too expensive at all) and had some chicken for dinner that night.

I'm proud of us for trying something new and proud of the girls for not complaining too much about it! Hopefully the next new thing we try will turn out better!

Mealtime Friends

This is the current setup on my kitchen table! I've always had the placemat with the napkin holder and candle. but all the other things around it are new as of Molly's birthday on 2/20. Molly really wanted some rubber duckies to play with for her birthday so we got her a set and she also got a lego set with three different dogs that you could put together. I guess she decided the rubber duckies and dogs needed a place to stay on our table because they have been there since!

Molly's 9th Birthday!

Molly is 9 years old as of February 20! She is such a fun little girl! When she was a baby I always said she was the perfect mix of happy and calm. I think she's still that way today, but I would describe her more as always having a good time in her back pocket and always loving to laugh! She is such a kind and caring friend and is so good at letting other people have their way. We love her so much and are so very proud of her!
