How Perspectives Change

It's funny how things change when you have a kid or two. You see things in a completely different light than before. I read an article about this and thought of my own things that I think way differently about now that I'm a parent compared to before.

1.  Waiting in lines. Lines are the worst with kids! With a baby and a two-year-old you never know when one is going to "erupt" in their own way. I hate lines and avoid them as much as possible!
2.  Automatic doors. All doors should be automatic or have a handicapped button to push for it to open. Do you know how hard it is to manage a door when carrying two kids at once, carrying one kid and pushing a stroller, or pushing a stroller and trying to manage the kid walking next to you?
3.  High chairs and bathroom changing stations. All restaurants should have high chairs. That should just be a rule no matter what. But probably more so, all bathrooms (restaurants, wherever you're at) should have changing stations. Do you know how gross it is to lay your baby down on a bathroom floor, even if placed on a blanket, to change her? But when your baby needs changed, she needs changed so you make due.
4.  Preference to those with littles. Pre-kid Libby would soooo laugh at this one but post-kid Libby realizes how hard it is lug around two littles! People should totally let a mom with her cart full of groceries and two kids go in front of everyone to check out next because as mentioned above, you never know when the baby or kid is going to erupt!
5.  Grocery store drive-thrus. Grocery stores should totally have drive-thrus for when you only need one-two items. Sometimes it's just too daunting of a task to go into a store for one item with kids in tow, but go figure, that one item you need is the essential ingredient to the evening's dinner and you have to get it. A drive-thru for this purpose would be so wonderful!

I'm sure there's lots more things I can add to this list but can't think of them now. This article was my inspiration for this post:

Ring Around The Rosey

We played "ring around the rosey" with Lucy and Molly and it was a lot of fun! Both girls loved it, especially Molly. In fact, when we were done, Molly would reach for our fingers to go again. This was a very fun time! One of the funniest things, too, is at the end when Molly falls on the floor again. She loves to do this...just flop on the floor. She's so sweet!

Memories

This was me a year ago today.

I was 40 weeks pregnant and it was Molly's due date. I didn't realize it at the time, but I was actually in labor. Contractions started around 12:45 that day. In fact, I remember eating lunch at Steak n Shake with my parents, Lucy, and Ross and having contractions. They weren't very strong, that came around 6:30pm that night, but I could certainly feel them. I wouldn't want to go back to that day and relive the last year, but it is so much fun to think back to that day and getting to meet Molly! Now I'm off to finish getting ready for her birthday party tomorrow!

Snack Time!

Both girls decided to have a snack together the other day at their little play table. It was the sweetest thing!

Giving Baby A Bath

I saw Lucy giving one of Molly's babies a bath the other day. It was the sweetest thing! She was washing the baby just like we wash her and Molly. She's so sweet!

What Mom Am I

I've read lots of "Mom" articles lately and enjoy them because I can so relate. Some of the ones I enjoy are the "What Kind Of Mom You Find At The Playground....Trick-Or-Treating...On The First Day Of School...At The Birthday Party..." They list about 10 different types of Moms you will find in these situations. The types range from the over-protective mom, the mom who lets their kid run loose without checking on him or her, the one who has every type of baby supply possible in her diaper bag, the one who has all the snacks, the one who takes tons of picture, etc.

One day when I was at a park with my girls I noticed a group of moms talking while pushing their kids on the swings and this article popped into my mine. I thought of it because one of the moms was dressed like she was going to a semi-fancy lunch date instead of a park playdate. She looked very pretty with her hair and make up all done up, a very nice shirt with a fur vest over it, skinny jeans, and boots. As I said, she looked nice, but just didn't seem to fit the park dress code that day. Another mom in this group looked like her, but not as "done up" as she was, and the other mom had on a workout outfit, tennis shoes, and her hair in a ponytail. This group just struck me funny and I started thinking about the "Moms You Meet At The Park" articles I've read.

I looked at myself and wondered what Mom would I be classified as if someone was looking at me with that article in mind. My hair was fixed and I had my usual minimal amount of makeup on, I had a long-sleeve shirt with a jacket on with jeans and tennis shoes. Most of the other moms at the park fit my description of clothing and not many were dressed like the mom above. There's nothing wrong with the way any of us were dressed, just different strokes for different folks, as Ross would say!

Lucy's Princess Purse

Lucy got a set of three Frozen puzzles for Christmas that came in a little Frozen bag/purse. She calls it her princess purse and filled it with all sorts of goodies. Goodies like shoes, bracelets, earrings, and a wand. This was so sweet and funny to me! I love the innocence of little kids!

Shoes! Part 6

In January of 2011 I wrote a series of blog posts about my favorite shoes. You can read about it here. I used to wear all of those shoes to work and really enjoyed doing so. They were so pretty and went with my outfits so well. I always got compliments on the red shoes and loved them, even though they hurt my feet a lot.

I quit work in April 2013 when Lucy was born which means that most of those shoes haven't been worn since then. In reality, they haven't been worn since maybe November or December of 2012 because they weren't too comfortable for my swollen, pregnant feet.

Now those shoes just sit in my closet waiting to be worn again. Some of them do get worn by Lucy. She likes to come into my closet and try on some of the shoes. It's pretty funny to see her walking in them! I sometimes think about getting rid of them, but I don't think I can part with them!
