Molly's Dancing

We went back to school clothes shopping one day and Molly was such a trooper! Right now, Molly doesn't seem to be into clothes as much as Lucy, and Molly gets to wear Lucy's old clothes, so it was more so shopping for Lucy than Molly. Molly, though, did not let that get her down. She had the best time entertaining herself in front of the mirror in the Target dressing room while Lucy had fun trying on clothes. Her dance was so cute and yes, she did lie on the dressing room floor, but her clothes will wash and she got a bath before bed. :)  You can watch dance her here!

Bowling Fun

A local bowling alley has a program offering kids two free games of bowling each day during the summer months. All you have to do is sign your kid up and they email you your coupons each week. My nephews stayed a couple of nights with my parents this summer, so I signed everyone up and Gumma took us bowling one afternoon. It was a lot of fun bowling together! I got a kick out of Gumma, who was all official bringing her own bowling ball and powder and washcloth to help dry her hands off before bowling!

The bowling was free, but we did have to rent our shoes, which were $4/pair. But, if you take your shoe rental receipt to the arcade desk you can exchange it for a $5 game card for the arcade! So basically this bowling alley paid us $1 to play there that afternoon! The girls and boys had a great time playing games and Gumma even played some air hockey with Lucy and Molly! It was a fun time and lots of good memories were made!

First Day Fail!

Lucy has done great her first few days of kindergarten. I, however, failed the very first day! Lucy came home from school on the first day with the following note in her backpack.

I laughed so hard at this and was totally laughing at myself. I saw on her class schedule that she has snack time from 10:45-11:00am each day. I wasn't told or given any information about sending a snack or sending money for a snack, so thought it was pretty neat that her school provided a snack for the kids! Well, I was certainly wrong! I completely missed something or her teacher just forgot to tell us to send a snack each day! Thankfully, Lucy's teacher did give her a snack that first day, and Lucy said there were lots of other kids who didn't have a snack, either, so at least I wasn't the only one! I just laughed to myself thinking how naive of me to think that the school would provide it! I guess I thought that because they have a "breakfast in the classroom" program the is completely free for every student at that school, so why wouldn't they provide a snack, too?! So you can bet from now on the first item I pack in her backpack each day is a snack!

The first week of kindergarten has been a good one, but there's definitely been a learning curve to go along with it!

Little Grocery Shoppers

We went to our local grocery store and let the girls use the little shopping carts they have. I love these carts so much and so do the girls! I'm pretty sure I've posted about the carts before, but it's definitely worth a second post! I have several friends who complain about these carts and talk about how much of a pain they are when their kids use them. I can so not relate to those posts because I think these carts are just great! Sure, they can be a little hard for children to maneuver, but as long as you keep your eye on them, they're not too bad and just super cute! You can watch them shop here!

Last Day Of Summer Vacation

Our last day of summer vacation ended up being a pretty fun day. I'm kind of surprised, because I didn't have anything planned for the day. This was highly unusual for me because all summer I've basically had our whole week planned out on Sunday! I guess I just ran out of things to do, and it was raining, so that was a bit limiting.

We ended up going to the aquarium with Amelie and Maren, and then the girls wanted to eat at McDonald's for lunch, so we did. After Molly's nap we headed to Petsmart, our favorite summer stomping ground, then stopped by Lucy's school for some Kona Ice. It was "Meet the Teacher Day" for all first through fifth graders and they had the Kona Ice truck there for the event! We couldn't pass up Kona Ice! And I was very nervous and had questions about how the first day of school would go dropping Lucy off, etc. I saw some PTA officers at the school and just explained my situation to them and they were very understanding and happy to answer my questions. I was so thankful for that!

It was a great way to wrap up a very fun summer with my favorite girls! :)

Thanks to Aunt Stephanie, Uncle Nathan, Trevor, and Cody for the back to school brownies!

Molly was trying to climb up this cat house/toy at Petsmar!

Workout Buddies And Donuts

This past Monday was Lucy's last day to go to the gym with me for a long time. She will be in school now when Molly and I go to the gym. I took them to Krispy Kreme after the gym to celebrate her being done with the gym and thank her for not complaining about going with me! The night before, Lucy set out her "workout clothes" to wear the next day and of course I wore workout clothes since I was going to work out. Molly had one outfit on that morning, but when she saw that Lucy and I had our workout clothes on, she had to put hers on. It was a fun morning being "workout buddies," as Lucy said, and eating donuts!

We Have A Kindergartner!

Lucy started kindergarten today and we couldn't be prouder of her! She was excited and maybe a little nervous, but if so you really couldn't tell. We parked at a friend's house and walked her into the school. All of the students met in the All Purpose room where they sat in their teacher's class line and waited to be dismissed to their classroom. The parents got to go to the classroom (for the first day only) and stay there for about 10-15 minutes. I was so extremely proud of Lucy and relieved, too, because she didn't cry or cling to me! She's been doing that a lot this summer at Sunday school drop off, birthday parties, and different events we've been to. Her not crying made it SOOOOOOO much easier on me! Lucy walked right up to her class line and sat down, no questions asked. She sat at a table with her friend, Darby, and had fun taking pictures with us. Her teacher, Mrs. Williams, has a class Facebook page and had already posted pictures two different times by 1:50 today!

I am so very excited for Lucy and this new adventure. I think she will really enjoy school and especially learning how to read! I'm very proud of Lucy and love her so, so much!

Kona Ice

This summer we discovered Kona Ice! It's basically snow cones/shave ice and the girls love it! We first had a Kona Ice one beautiful Sunday afternoon in June while at the park. The girls were playing and I saw the Kona Ice truck drive up and laughed to myself thinking how clever for the truck to pull up at a park! I ran into an old friend so was talking to him for a bit while Ross was watching the girls play. The next thing I knew, I turned around and saw Ross and the girls at the Kona Ice truck buying a Kona Ice. This made me laugh so much!

Ever since that Sunday the girls have asked about and wanted Kona Ice. We even tried to make some at home once, but I don't think it turned out quite right. :)

Well, fast forward to a few weeks ago and the girls, Gumma, and I were running a few errands before going to see the animals (for probably the 20th time this summer) at Petsmart! :)  I drove by a park and saw the Kona Ice truck parked there and just started laughing! I couldn't pass up this opportunity, so pulled in and we all enjoyed sharing a strawberry Kona Ice!

And to add to the Kona Ice story, later that same evening, I saw a post on our elementary school's Facebook page saying the Kona Ice truck would be at Meet The Teacher night at school! Three cheers for Kona Ice!

Gym Candy

Lucy has been going to the gym with me every MWF since she was 8 months old and Molly has been going ever since she was born. A few years ago the girls discovered the candy machine at the gym and pretty much every day when I pick them up from the gym daycare they ask to get candy. Most days I say ok and give them each a quarter, of which they're so excited about! They can chose from skittles, reeces pieces, and mike and ikes, and we sit at the table to enjoy the candy.

A New Library At The Art Museum

A few weeks ago the library had a special even at the art museum, so we went to check it out. They had a few different stations set up to do some special art projects, but the girls didn't care too much for them. They did enjoy playing in the kids play area and reading books on the book nook. They also got to see and tour a mobile library. They had never seen or heard of this before and thought it was pretty neat. We went inside and found a few books to check out, too.
