5 Years!

Last Friday, April 17, was our five-year wedding anniversary! It's hard to believe five years have already gone by, but I bet I say that each year! Friday was such a nice day with great weather! It was fun to look at the clock and think back to what I was doing five years ago at that time. I still remember most everything about that day and what an absolutely perfect day it was! I don't remember anything going wrong and had the best time ever.

Our anniversary was very nice. Mom and Dad came over to watch the kids so we could go out to dinner alone. We went to Ocean Zen then got me ice cream and went to the park where we got engaged to walk around a bit. After that we went to Andy's to get Ross frozen custard and then back home. It was very nice to be alone together!

Ross surprised me with a very special gift, too. He gave me a heart-shaped locket that had two pictures from our wedding day in it. I love it so much! He is so thoughtful and always comes up with ideas like that that are so perfect for me. I so much appreciate the locket and the thought and time that went into it. He had to shrink the pictures down very small for them to fit and he did a very good job of it. I am certainly blessed beyond measure having Ross as my husband!

Easter

We had a nice Easter celebration. On Saturday we took Lucy to an Easter egg hunt at a local church and I think she had a fun time. There were lots of people and activities going on. Most all of it seemed to be lost on Lucy, but we had a fun time. I'm sure next year will be a different story and she will really like everything.

Sunday we went to church and I was so proud of us - we got to church early!! I wanted to be early because it was Easter Sunday and I knew there would be more people there than normal and I wanted a seat in the back since we had Molly and I never know when she will wake up or cry.

We took family pictures, which is a little hard with an almost two-year-old and an almost two-month-old! Other than that, we had a normal Sunday and my parent's came over for dinner that night. Ross made a tritip and we had a very nice dinner. Overall it was a very nice day. Much better than last Easter when we were all sick!

Hunting Easter eggs!

Yummy donuts at the Easter egg hunt.

A big, red balloon!

Molly even enjoyed the Easter egg hunt.

Anna, Elsa, and Olaf were at the egg hunt! I wanted to see them but got a little shy when it was my turn. Daddy was really nice to stay with me for my picture to be taken.

Easter eggs at church in my pretty Easter dress!

You're Never Too Old

Our church had an Easter egg hunt for the kiddos between services on Easter Sunday. I was really excited to have Lucy hunt eggs, even though I knew it would be kind of lost on her. She picked up a few eggs and then saw the horses in the field next to church and was more interested in them instead!

But, Ross sure didn't pass up the eggs for the horses! He had fun hunting the Easter eggs, too, but made sure to check out each egg to get the ones with his favorite candy. :)

Done

The past six weeks have been hard with a newborn and an almost two-year-old. Molly has had a hard time getting adjusted to life outside the womb and has had lots of really bad screaming fits. It has been very stressful and tiring!

Last Wednesday my left breast hurt all day long and I wondered if I might have mastitis or something along those lines. That evening I had very bad chills and then a 101 fever when I went to bed. I texted with my Mom about it and she asked if I wanted her to come over and stay the night to help us out. I told her it was up to her and she said okay, I'm on my way. At 11pm at night! She's a good Mom, for sure.

It was very helpful with her being there. She played with Lucy which allowed me to nap some during the day, much needed! And overnight when Molly woke up to eat she would change Molly, bring her to me to feed her, and come get her when I was done and take Molly back to bed. This was great because it allowed Ross to sleep all night (he usually gets Molly overnight and changes her) and catch up on sleep, too.

Mom stayed in our guest room so I would text her saying "Done" when I was ready for her to come get Molly. We laughed about this after the fact - my Done, Done, Done....and then what's even funnier is that she replied back instead of just coming to get Molly!

However funny the texts were (or maybe they're not that funny, but things are a little loopy when sleep-deprived!) we sure appreciated my Mom being here to help. She helped take care of Lucy so many times during pregnancy when I had a dr appointment, she helped watch Lucy when Molly was born, she stayed with us for a week after Molly was born and then a few days the next week, she watches Lucy while I have Molly's dr appointments, she came over at midnight to help last week.....she's so helpful and so willing to drop anything to help, too. I sure do appreciate her and would be lost without her. Thanks Mom, I love you!

My Girls

It's really fun, but kind of weird still, to say "my girls." Sometimes it's even still weird to say I'm a mom, or that I'm married for that matter, even after 5 years! A friend gave me matching outfits for Lucy and Molly when Molly was born and I dressed them in the outfits yesterday. I love seeing them matching! I think it is so much fun and plan on doing that more in the future.

I'm so happy, too, that Lucy really seems to like Molly! She doesn't really understand "gentle" but for the most part she is very good around Molly. She loves giving her kisses, hugs, "helping" change her diaper, and most every morning when she wakes up the first thing she says is "go see Molly." I am so thankful for her response to Molly. I was worried that she wouldn't like her, but so far, so good!
