Eagleton And First Fridays

I started a "First Friday Fun" thing with our school this year through PTA. The first Friday of each month we have our mascot, Eagleton, in the carline greeting students as they come to school and we also have a special treat for all of the teachers that day.

Our first Frist Friday was in September and the students we were all really excited to see Eagleton as they came in the building! We popped popcorn and brought around popcorn bags to all our teaches that afternoon.

In October we had the Kickapoo Golden Girls Dance Team help greet students, along with Eagleton in the morning carline. We gave the teachers a three-pack of some nice chapstick that we had donated to us from Blistex. It might not be something big, but just a little something to say we appreciate you!

November was my favorite First Friday so far...we had the Kickapoo (Kickapoo is the high school that Mann students feed into) Drumline playing for about 30 minutes in the morning during carline drop off. It was so much fun! I absolutely loved them being there and since I was dressed as Eagleton that day I got to play the drums a bit, too! The drumbline was so very good and I think most of the neighborhood was able to hear how good they are, too! :) We gave the teachers a mini bundt cake from Nothing Bundt Cakes as a treat that day and stocked their refrigerator with some yummy flavored coffee creamers.

For December we are planning on having Eagleton in the carline again and have Christmas music playing for all to hear. We are getting some kringles and other pastries from a local favorite bakery as a treat for the teachers. I have really enjoyed this First Friday program and hope everyone else has, too!

I'm Eagleton in both of these pictures! It's fun being Eagleton and all the kids really love him!

Fall Fest 2022

I'm our school PTA president and one of my jobs is to chair our annual Fall Fest. It is a big job that takes several weeks of planning, organizing, talking through, etc. This year was my second year to chair it and it went over so well! We pretty much copy-pasted from last year's Fall Fest, but made a few tweaks here and there. I didn't take many picutres that night because I was kind of busy making sure everything was going well.

Fall Fest is a cavinal-like setting with food, games, inflatables and bounce houses, vendors, and the night ends with a glow dance party. Ross was so helpful and grilled up 200 hamburger patties! This is our biggest fundraiser of the year and we made about $3,500!

For the last 15 minutes of the night we turn off all the lights and have a glow dance party. It was so much fun to me this year! We sold some really cool glow items and it was so cool when the lights went off and the glow items went on! That moment made all the hard work totally worth it to know I'd helped provide this fun, very affordable evening for our school families! You can watch some of the glow dance party here

Fun Fall Day In Branson!

We had a really fun fall day in Branson one Saturday in October. Larry and Wanda came down to stay in their "Branson house" for the week, so we met up with them on Saturday to hang out. We went to the Shepherd of the Hills pumpkin patch and did all the activities they had. It was a really nice time!

Parent Teacher Conferences

We had parent teacher conference at the end of October and both girls had a great report! They are both good readers and reading above their grade level and most importantly, both have great behavior! I walked away from those conferences so thankful for how good the girls are! They do have their moments with fighting with each other and having attitudes, but overall, they are just so good! They are kind, are good friends, and are very well-behaved. I'm so thankful that our conferences are always easy!

Breakfast Request

I woke up one morning to find this breakfast request waiting for me. It was from Lucy asking me to make her a smoothie for breakfast and she spelled out exactly how I was supposed to make it. I'm happy to say that I fulfilled her request!

Half Marathon #10!

I ran my 10th half marathon (13.1 miles) last Sunday! It was a beautiful morning with perfect running weather. I finished in 2 hours and 30 minutes, which was my goal finish time, so I was quite happy with that. Ross and the girls made a sign for me and met me along the course in a couple of different places. My mom and dad even met me along the course and at the finish line. I was sore at the end but was so very proud of myself! I've been training for this since the end of August - doing my long training runs each Saturday morning.

I do enjoy running and hope to keep up these races. I'm considering the idea of doing another full marathon (26.2 miles) but I don't know if I want to put in the 4 months of training to do it right!

Double Digits!

I had a birthday last week and now I'm double digits! hahah......not really but kind of because I'm 44! My birthday was on a Monday so I had my class in the morning and then I went to school in the afternoon to work at the book fair. My PTA friends there surprised me with a cake, flowers, and balloons! That was so nice of them! Later that night we ate dinner at the Olive Garden with my parents and then opened presents at home. I had a really nice birthday overall.

New Windows!

We got new windows in our basement last week! We ordered the windows in March and they finally arrived and were installed....that order time is just crazy! We now have all new windows in our entire house. We've done them in three phases and they have been expensive, but well worth it. Sometime early next year we will begin the process of finishing our basement. I am so excited for that!
