First Day Of School........Lunches

For some reason I've taken a picture of the girls' lunch on the first day of school. I started doing this when Lucy was in her first year of preschool and kept doing it each year since. I really don't know why, but couldn't not do it this year! So here's their lunches for the first day this year!

Welcome Back Sidewalk Decorations

This year a few of our PTA ladies and 6 parents decorated the school sidewalks with encouraging messages the night before school started. I started doing this two years ago with just the PTA ladies, but this year we made it an event and invited parents to help, too. I'm so glad we did that because the sidewalks looked soo good! We had some very creative and artsy people helping us and I love how it turned out!

50 Years!

Larry and Wanda celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Saturday, August 21! Which, by the way, that happens to be the anniversary of when Ross and I got engaged....quite a few years later than their wedding date, of course. :)

They spent the week leading up to their anniversary vacationing in Branson, so we had them over one night for a surprise anniversary dinner! The girls and I went shopping the week before and bought some fun 50th anniversary decorations. We couldn't find a banner we liked, so Lucy made one for us and I think it turned out great! It was a nice evening together!

First Day Of School!

Today is the first day of school! Our morning went really well, everyone woke up early, had breakfast, and were in good moods! (I hope that's the case every day from now on!) Lucy is in third grade and has a guy for her teacher and Molly is in first grade and has the same teacher Lucy had when she was in first grade. Both teachers are great and I think the perfect fit for the girls. We pray all summer that the girls will be put in the class that's the right teacher and friends for them to have that year, so I trust that our prayers were answered! Lucy is pretty excited to have a guy for a teacher and I think it he be a great match for her. We took our annual first day of school pictures on our porch and at the school. Two years ago we added in a first day of school picture with our neighbor, Mr. Mike, and we carried on with that today! We couldn't walk the girls into school due to covid, but did walk them to the door. Ross and I walked away feeling good because we know how great our school and teachers are!

Walmart Haircuts!

Both girls were in need of a haircut so we took care of that this week. I have always taken them to Pigtails and Crewcuts, a salon for kids, but they have gone out of business so I needed to find a new place for them to go. Our Walmart has a salon in it and the last few times we've been in Walmart Lucy told me she wanted to get her hair cut there. So I decided why not and took them their hair cut at Walmart! Both girls had their hair washed there, too, which was a nice experience for them! Usually they just wet down their hair before getting it cut, so this was new for them to have their hair washed at the salon. Molly was so very excited about it!

They got a great haircut and there's nothing wrong with getting your hair cut at the salon in Walmart. But, I wonder when the day will come that they are somewhat embarrassed of the fact that they wanted to get their hair cut at Walmart and not a "real" salon?!

PTA Sign Project

A few weeks ago I completed a PTA project that was over two years in the making! At our summer officer meeting in June 2019, we had the idea to put in a new sign at our school and sell engraved bricks as a fundraiser to go by the sign. Long story short, the sign was put in in April of 2020 (when school was shut down) and the bricks were sold in January-March in 2021, and then engraved shortly after that. The bricks were finally placed at the sign in July and I think they look great! We sold 60 bricks and probably about half of the bricks were sold to alumni! I bought a brick for the girls and had it engraved with "The Wiseman Girls Lucy 2018-2024, Molly 2020-2026"

It was fun to see what people had engraved on their bricks. One girl bought a brick to say "Ashely and Lauren, BFFs since 1994." I love this! She bought it as a gift to her best friend that she met in elementary school!
