Super Bowl!

We had a fun Super Bowl weekend a few weeks ago! Our church does a big "30 Second Theology" service each Super Bowl Sunday where they do lessons using different tv commercials. It's basically like teaching through parables like Jesus taught. They also go all out decorating the lobby and had some fun photo opps for everyone.

For dinner we had our tradiational Super Bowl dinner of "Qdoba chicken" that Ross makes at home. He uses a marinade like Qdoba and the chicken turns out so good! We make rice and have enchiladas or burrito bowls. It's a special night because we all get to eat on the couch instead of at the table!

We, of course, were so happy with the outcome of the Chiefs winning!

8 and 7-year-old instruments

We are gathering quite the instrument collection at our house! We've had my dad's guitar for quite a while and last month my dad gifted Lucy with his cello. She was beyond excited for that! Before her birthday, Molly got out her "7" balloon from last year and we had an "8" balloon for this year. The girls thought it would be funny to put the balloons on our instruments so we had an eight-year-old cello and a seven-year-old guitar! It's the little things that make us laugh around here......

Penny War!

PTA sponsored a Penny War a few weeks ago at school and it was a fun time! We had a jar set up for each class and students could put money in jars to either increase or decrease that class's total amount of money. Pennies and all bills equaled a positive count and all silver coins equaled a negative count. So a class could have $100 of actual cash in their jar, but if $60 of it was in silver coins, their Penny War total would actually be $40 instead of $100!

It's a fun week and lots of kids and teachers get very competitive with the whole thing! The top three classes and the most sabotaged class win a popcorn party, certificate, and trophy. The 1st place class also got to silly string our principal at a school assembly. Lucy's class was the winning class and she had a lot of fun with the silly string!

We had a goal of raising $2,500 that would all go towards playground improvements. We didn't quite make our goal, but did raise $2,250, with $1,100 of that coming on the last day alone! We had volunteers to count the money but some of the jars were so full that we took them to the bank and had the bank count it for us with their coin machine!

Book Mark Contest

Each year our local library has a bookmark design contest. The girls both entered it this year and I don't know about you, but I think both of them should win!

Puzzle!

We had four snow days at the end of January and I got out a puzzle to do. We've done this puzzle a few times before and it's a hard one! It's 1,000 pieces and all the pieces look the same! Lucy and I started working on it and then Ross started helping. We all enjoyed it but were kind of glad when it was done!
