Memories

This came up in my memories one day last week

I remember this note very well! Lucy was in first grade and Molly was in Pre-K. Ross was out of town that week for work and he had been out of town off and on for a few weeks before that. I don't remember what exactly the problem was this night, but I do remember being so very mad at Lucy! I think she was treating Molly very meanly and just had a real attitude! I did not ask her to write this letter, she just brought it downstairs to me. I remember reading it and thinking that it was nice, but like I said, I was so mad at the time that this note did not have a super calming affect like you'd think it would. I was just that mad and fed up with the whole situation! I wasn't mean to her when she gave it to me. I let her know how very nice it was, etc., but inside I was just mad!

Looking back on this note now, three years later, it is so sweet! I love how she sounded everything out and the pureness of what she said. I love her so!

Our Beautiful Yard

This is our yard now on September 21! It's so funny and embarassing to me, but more so funny I think! Our yard is half nice grass, half bermuda grass (weeds) and Ross decided he wanted to fix that. He did a lot of research on it and found the best process to go through. He sprayed weed killer on the grass and it slowly died off. He will now mow it up, till it up, and plant new grass. It will look good in the longrun, but now I feel like I have to explain to anyone who comes over that we aren't just neglecting our yard, but do have a plan for it!

Golden Girls Cheer Clinic

Lucy and Molly both did the Kickapoo Golden Girls Cheer Clinic last Friday night! The Golden Girls are the dance team at the high school we will go to someday. We did this clinic last year and they had a really good time at it, so decided to go again this year. Lucy knew of one friend that would be there, but Molly didn't know if any of her friends would be there. When we showed up for registration Molly saw a friend from school and then a friend from church, so that was great! The girls spend the afternoon at Kickapoo learning their dance and then also had pizza for dinner there. They got to perform their dance on the track before the football game that night. It was a really fun time and night!

Braces!

Lucy got braces on September 2!! She has braces on her top four teeth only and they are all permanent teeth. She also has an expander which was placed on June 9. So far she has had a good experience with the braces and has only complained of her teeth hurting a few times. I'm really proud of her! I can already see her teeth moving into place, so that is cool to me! And in the side-by-side picture below of her expander, you can see the space in the middle of it to show how much it has moved since we were there in July. It's so neat how this all works together! It's a chunk of change we're paying for the braces, but we're so thankful to be able to do this for her! She will have the braces on for about ten months!

Downpour!

A few weeks ago we had a DOWNPOUR one Monday afternoon that resulted in flash flooding all over Springfield. It started raining at about 1:45, let up around 2:20, just in time for the girls to get out of school without getting wet, and then picked right back up again around 2:45. It poured and poured and poured! So much so that we ended up with 4.5 inches of rain in our rain gauge in only about three hours! That was some crazy rain and I'm so thankful that we were at home while it happened!

$28 Toys

We ate at Dave and Buster's when we went to Bentonville one Saturday last month. Dave and Buster's has a restaurant and also a big arcade area. We bought a game care for $28 that gave us quite a few tokens for playing games. We had a fun time doing different games and won tickets after each game. Lucy played a Candy Crush game that actually gave us 500 point, bringing us to 728 overall! Before we left we cashed in our tickets for 2 ring pops, 2 fun dips, and a sticky hand thing. It's kind of funny/sad to think that we essentially paid $28 for the candy and toy! You can watch here to see how you play with a $28 toy!

Bentonville Day Trip

We went to Bentonville, Arkansas, for the day one Saturday in August and a really great time! We had planned to go to Branson that day, but decided against it because it was the Missouri tax-free holiday weekend and we thought it might be really busy. So we went to Bentonville, where it was their tax-free holiday weekend!

Bentonville is about 2 hours south of us and Ross and I went there for a weekend trip before we had kinds. It's an easy drive and just a fun little day trip spot. We went to the Walmart museum located on the Bentonville square and after lunch at Chick-fil-A, we toured a "mansion" in the city. It was a house that was 150 years old and has a lot of history involved with it. It was a fun little thing to do!

After that we went to Crystal Bridges Art Museum. It's a really cool place with lots of neat art pieces to look at. We also took time to get some gourmet cookies, frozen yogurt, and after doing a little shopping we ended the night at Dave and Buster's for dinner and games. It was a really nice day!
