iPhone Calendar

Lucy has really been interested in dates lately. She talks a lot about the 1900s and the 2000s. She likes telling us we were born in the 19s and she was born in the 20s. :) She is also interested in "way back in the 1800s." One day she told us that the iPad calendar goes all the way back to "1" on the date. It took us a minute to figure out what she was talking about, and then when we realized what she was talking about, we had to find out for ourselves! I scrolled back on my iPhone calendar all the way to year 1! And to my surprise, after you get to the year 1, it starts going back up from 1. I figured the calendar would just stop, but it didn't. It took quite a while to get down to year 1 and I would have liked to have kept going up from year 1 to see how far it went, but I decided I had better things to do with my time! You should try your phone calendar and see how far back it goes!

Molly Hamming It Up

I had some fun memories come up on my TimeHop on Valentine's Day from 2016 when Molly was just about to turn one year old. I remember this so well! We were sitting at the top of the stairs and Molly was kind of crawling down and laughing and laughing. It was the funniest thing! You can watch her here! This picture is one of my favorites, too. Molly looks so  cute and silly! What a fun little girl she is!

Me & My Guy Dance

Each year our school PTA sponsors a "Me & My Guy" dance. Girls are invited to bring the special guy (dad, grandpa, uncle, etc.) in their life and enjoy a night of dressing up and dancing. This year I was in charge of the dance and I think it was a huge success! The theme was Enchantment Under the Sea and we had the most awesomest decorations ever! We found ideas on Pinterest and then our PTA president created everything. We used pool noodles, sticks, gumballs, construction paper, boxes, spray foam, plastic tablecloth, all sorts of things to create the decorations and a great atmosphere.

During the dance we had a best girl dancer, best guy dancer, and best dressed couple competition. The winners all a sash, and the best dancer got these super cute tropies and the best dressed couple got a crown and tiara. I'm in love with these trophies!

This is the photo backdrop we put together. The seashell is made out of carboard and spray paint.

This jelly fish hung from the ceiling. It was made out of a big ring, streamers, and lights. It looked so good hanging from the ceiling!

These coral reef sculptures turned out so good! They are made out of pool noodles that were cut up all sorts of different ways, spray painted sticks, rolled up construction paper, and spray foam made into starfish. We had seven of these reefs and they were simply amazing!

We lined the hallway ceiling with plastic tablecloth and put cut out figures of different sea life on top of the paper. It looked so cool and really did make you feel like you were under the sea!

These are the awesome PTA ladies I work with! We all worked equally hard to put on a top-notch dance for all the little school girls. It was a great night!

Molly Is 5!

Today is Molly's fifth birthday! It's just crazy how time flies by so quickly. I know we say that all the time, but it's just so true! We've had some fun celebrating her birthday with a family party, start student at school, and today will have birthday dinner and presents at home. Molly is just the funnest little girl! To me, she is the quintesential preschooler! She is so easily excited. She loves everything about school. She is very kind and helpful. She loves, loves, loves to laugh! I think her laugh is very contagious, too. I just love her so much and am so very thankful she is my daughter!

Kindergarten

Lucy came home from school with this form one day. It's a form to fill out if you have a student who will be in kindergarten for the next school year. I filled it out for Molly and had Lucy turn it in for me. It's hard to believe Molly will be starting kindergarten next year! I will miss having her at home with me and it will certainly be an adjustment being home alone all day! I'm excited for Molly, though, because I know she is really looking forward to kindergarten! Time certainly does fly by!

Christmas 2019

We had a nice Christmas day this past season. Lucy had a fever all day so we couldn't go to my sister's in the afternoon as planned, but we made the most of it anyway! The girls were very excited when they woke up, but were not very excited at all to wait on the stairs for a bit before they could go see what Santa left them! I remember as a kid that we always had to wait for my parents to get all ready before we could go out and see what was left for us. It was killer having to wait! I don't have any bad feelings about making my kids wait like that now...it's sort of like a rite of passage as a kid, don't you think?! :)

They were excited to find Santa had left them exactly what they had asked him for. Lucy got hand sanitizer, an OMG LOL doll, and a picture frame. Molly got an OMG LOL doll and some Legos without instructions. We took turns opening all our presents this year instead of everyone opening at once. This went over very well and I was quite proud of the girls as they waited patiently for their present opening turn to come around again.

After we were done opening presents we surprised each of them with a new bike! We found a great black Friday deal on bikes and Gumma and Poppy graciously got them for the girls. Before these bikes we only had Lucy's bike, which she got when she turned three. Her bike fits Molly perfectly now, but is way too small for Lucy. Usually we would just have Molly use the hand-me-down bike, but decided it would be nice for her to have her own new one, too. Both girls were excited for the bikes and we look forward to riding them more this spring and summer.

Gumma and Poppy left in the afternoon and went to Joplin to celebrate with the Herndons. We stayed at home and watched Toy Story 4, then had dinner. All in all it was a great Christmas!
