The Stages Of Lucy's Turkey Trot

We did the Turkey Trot 5K (3.1 miles) on Thanksgiving morning. This is Lucy's first year to do it without a stroller. We decided to just bring the single stroller for Molly to use if needed and make Lucy walk. We were maybe about 1/4-1/2 mile in and Lucy said she was tired of walking. This did not surprise me at all, as she's not really our outdoors or exercise girl. :) She had boots on instead of tennis shoes and that might have made it worse. I didn't even think to tell her to put tennis shoes on when we were getting ready to leave. It was chilly that morning so I thought good her boots will keep her warm. Oh well....

We ended up carrying her a few times and she did get to ride in the stroller for a little while Molly was walking with Poppy. I sure do love Lucy!

Thanksgiving 2018

We had a really nice Thanksgiving! We usually go to Kansas City to Ross' parents for Thanksgiving dinner, but decided to stay home at our house this year. In the morning, Ross, the girls, my Dad, and I did the Turkey Trot and then later that day my parents came over for dinner. Friday we went to Kansas City and stayed there for the day and most of Saturday.

Thanksgiving Day was great weather! The girls got a little tired during the Turkey Trot, so we didn't quite do the full 5K, but did cross the finish line! We came home and watched the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade and later in the afternoon played outside in the leaves. We had turkey for dinner and had fun taking pictures.

Friday morning we drove to Kansas City and while the girls played with Gramma and Grampa in the afternoon, Ross and I did our annual black Friday shopping. Our shopping basically consists of going to a few stores and looking around, way after all the door buster sales are over! Larry and Wanda took us to dinner at P.F. Chang's on the plaza for a belated birthday dinner for me and we had fun walking around a bit looking at lights. Saturday morning we slept in and after breakfast went to Sheel's where we took a ride on the ferris wheel. We've done this the last few years and the girls really enjoy it. Ross' brother's family came over that afternoon and we had a fun visit with them. Their daughter, Haddie, is just two weeks younger than Lucy, so all the girls had fun playing together. All in all it was a great Thanksgiving holiday!

Staples

I got a stapler for my birthday. It was on my list because we do not have a working stapler in our house and I want to have one. I know it's something simple and cheap I can buy myself on my next shopping trip, but I can never remember to put it on my list. My sister gave me a stapler for my birthday and it turns out that Lucy loved it as much as I did! She had the best time stapling this piece of paper. :)

Lucy Follows Directions

Lucy has been going to gymnastics since late August and had been doing a good job with it. She really likes it, too. At the beginning of each class the students have to run laps around the gym for part of their warm-up. It always cracks me up to watch Lucy run. I know it's not her favorite thing to do, but she certainly follows directions. She runs right on the white line and always runs the number of laps the coach says to run. You can watch her run here. :)

Halloween 2018

We had a fun Halloween this year! Ross' work puts on a big Halloween/trick or treating event and the girls got a ton of candy that day. We carved a pumpkin and drew on another pumpkin. I made my traditional Halloween cinnamon rolls and chili and we also got a Papa Murphy's Jack-O-Lantern pizza for Halloween dinner. My parents came over to trick or treat with us and Molly had a blast walking around with Poppy. It rained the whole time we trick or treated, but we still had a fun time!
