Making Herself At Home

For quite a few years now, Molly has been in the habit of coming into our room at night when she has trouble falling asleep...or coming in just because she wants to. Countless times when I've gone up to bed I've had to carry her back to her bed. She is always fast asleep and never knows she's being moved.

Last night when I went up to bed I found her like this and it just cracked me up. She's laying all soundly asleep in my bed, but notice the cup that's on top of my alarm clock on the bedside table. It's her water cup. I did not put this cup there, so that means when she came into our room before falling asleep she brought her water with her. It was just funny to me because she totally made herself at home!

Kitchen Update!

Ross finished our kitchen update project last week and it looks great now! It began back in October of 2013 when we changed our kitchen countertops. When we bought our house in July of 2010, the countertops were a granite tile. Neither one of us like the color of the tile and we both hated that it was tile! Food would get stuck in the grout between the tiles and it just didn't look good. We updated the countertops to a solid slab of granite and it looked very good.

In March 2020, we had the cabinets painted white, something we had talked about doing for a long time. It looked good, but Ross ended up repainting the cabinets white because the lady who did it used the wrong kind of paint. The cabinets were already chipping (which they shouldn't) only after 2 months of them being painted. We just cut our losses and took care of it ourselves. The paint he used looks so much better and is very sturdy.

Earlier this month Ross began the project of tearing out the old backsplash and putting in a new backsplash. He had never done tile work like this before and did a really great job of it! We borrowed our neighbor's tile saw and overall the backsplash project cost about $250. Not too bad an it looks so nice!

Workout Buddies...Fourth Time!

The girls and I were "workout buddies" again this year right before school started! We first became workout buddies in 2018 when I noticed that we were all dressed in workout clothes one morning before going to the gym. I took a picture of us and said we were workout buddies that day! We've kept up our workout buddies day each August ever since! I wonder if we will still be doing this in another four years?!

When Will We See Jesus?

Larry and Wanda took us to see the Jesus show at the Sight and Sound Theater in Branson last month. This is the third show at the theater that we have seen with them. We do really enjoy going and are very thankful that they take us! We first saw The Miracle of Christmas in 2019 and saw Noah's Ark in 2020.

Molly, especially, loves the shows and was very excited when they told us earlier this year that they would take us to see Jesus. She talked about it all summer and we would tell her how much longer we had until we could go to the show.

A few days before the Jesus show, Molly asked me, "Mommy, when will we see Jesus?" This question totally took me by surprise and I had so many thoughts going through my head about it! I thought to myself well she knows about heaven and that we seen Jesus when we die and go to heaven, but I don't want to talk about dying! So I started to say something about seeing Jesus in heaven and how no one knows whey they will die, but hopefully not for a long time, and then Molly started laughing! Through her laughter she said, "No! I mean when will we see the Jesus show!?" We then had a good laugh about this little conversation!

Dojo Points

Our school uses an app called Class Dojo. The app is used to communicate with parents via email and also a way for teachers to give points to students based on their behavior during the day. It's fun to look at and see how well the girls are doing throughout the school day. Some of the reasons they get points crack me up such as "participating" and "ready to learn." These are all very simple things that we take for granted, but are a big deal to kids when it comes to points! Molly comes home probably four out of five days of the week with candy or a prize because she was the Dojo point winner for the day!

Ross' Office

A few weeks ago we finally went to see Ross' new office, well new since May office! We haven't been able to go during the week, so went on a Sunday when no one was there. He has a really nice, big office! It was fun to see where he spends his days. We discovered that he has a headset complete with a microphone that he uses for virtual meetings, so of course, had to take a picture of him with that on! He plans to do some decorating and put up his diplomas and a few other things.

Delivering Meals

I took the summer off, but was back to delivering my meals last Thursday! I started delivering Meals on Wheels to seniors last fall and have enjoyed doing it. I took the summer off because I didn't want to drag the girls along with me! I have the same route I had before my break and I think people were happy to see me again. It's nice chatting with everyone, but some are hard to get away from because all they want to do is chat! So my Thursday mornings are now back to delivering meals!

Baby Paper

Before Lucy was born I put baby wrapping paper in the bottom of each of her dresser drawers. My mom suggested this to help make the bottom feel nicer and look fun. This dresser eventually moved into Molly's room and when we were going through her clothes a few week ago she asked if I could replace the baby paper with more grown up paper...like unicorn paper! This just made me laugh! I don't mind changing the paper out, because it is baby paper, but it's kind of funny to replace it with unicorns...totally grown up!

The Many Faces Of Molly

Molly's 6 1/2 year birthday was on August 20th. We had Chick-fil-A for dinner that night and sang Happy Birthday to her with her candles in some waffle fries. You can watch us sing to her here. I took pictures while I was filming us singing and just laughed when looking at the pictures afterwards. I love all of Molly's faces! She is such a ham!

Creativity

I came in the living room one day last week to find this. It's the couch cushions set up to make a chair for the writing desk. Molly was working on something, with glitter nonetheless, and needed a place to sit. So naturally, she stacked up the couch cushions! :)
