Valentine Box Perfection!

I'm so proud of the Valentine boxes I created this year! I've always enjoyed working on Valentine boxes and think it's so much fun to see what you can create with limited items and funds! We found some ideas on Pinterest and Lucy decided she wanted a grand piano and Molly wanted a volleyball court, so I went to work!

I used a cereal box for the piano and Ross had to help me think through how to cut it up, but we made it happen! We used a cereal box for the piano, a pencil to hold up the lid, and three empty toilet paper rolls for the legs. We spray painted it black and Lucy decorated it with stickers and made the keyboard and sheet music herself. I love how it turned out!

I used a shoe box for Molly's volleyball court and glued scrapbook paper around the edges and on the top to cover the box. I cut up an avacado bag and Ross spray painted it for me to use as the volleyball net. Molly decorated the box with stickers and her number and we even glued a bouncy ball to the box for a volleyball.

Out of all the boxes I've created these might be my favorites!

My Guy & Me Dance

We had our annual PTA My Guy & Me Dance on February 9. This is our "daddy/daughter dance" and it was a great success! I've been in charge of planning it for the last five years and I do a good job at it! Our theme this year was "Winter Wonderland" and, of course, living in Missouri the temperature that day was in the 60s! I'll take it, though, because it very well could have been completely opposite and turned into a snow day!

We had help decorating and I always love how we can use very few and inexpensive decorations to make something look really good! I loved our photo booth! It was a sequined backdrop decorated with balloons.

We served little powdered donuts, chex mix, water, and hot chocolate with mini marshmallows and chocolate chips. I loved the idea of the hot chocolate but kind of didn't want to do it for fear of it spilling (even though the cups had lids) but it turned out really well overall!

It was a great night and we made $700 that goes towards our general fund! Sometimes I get really tired and burned out on PTA activities, but then when I see and hear about how much fun everyone had at the event it is very satisfying!

100th Day of School

We celebrated the 100th day of school earlier this month and we had two old ladies dressed in bathrobes! We have been celebrating the 100th day of school for six years now, as it began when Lucy was in kindergarten. That means that for the last six years I have had this backset full of our 100th day of school gear! It's from my mom and is full of curlers, "Life Alert" buttons, and glasses. I keep it on top of a storage container I have in the guest bedroom closet. I like how the girls know exactly where to go to find what they need! We have two years left of elementary school and celebrating the 100th day of school, but I'm sure this basket will still be in that same positions years from now!

Christmas Eve

I started this post in January....better late than never!

We had a very nice Christmas Eve! We went to church in the morning and then when we came home I put on this Holiday Potpourri mix I like to make on the stove. I love the smell and also love that when both girls smelled it they said "it smells like Christmas!"

We had dinner, went to a Christmas Eve service at the church I grew up going to, did our usual Christmas Eve traditions, and then went to bed. It was such a nice evening! I really like our traditions and all that we do. I hope they continue forever!
