Teacher Mode OFF

We had these shirts made as an end of year gift for all our teachers this year and I love them so much! I got this idea from a friend who had a shirt like this on last year at the end of the year and saved it for us to use this year. I love the tie dye and I love the Teacher Mode OFF! We handed them out to all the teachers last week and they loved them! It's been a great year in PTA!!

Teacher Appreciation Week 2023

PTA sponsors Teacher Appreciation Week each year and this year it was a huge hit, if I do say so myself! We chose a rock and roll theme with the overall saying being "Mann Teachers Are ROCK STARS!" We decorated the breakroom with a fun balloon display and had a fun tablecloth out all week. I put together a flyer for the week using different songs to tell what we had planned for each day. It was a lot of fun to put that together! We had some type of food item served each day and I think overall everyone felt very appreciation! Now on to plan next year's Teacher Appreciation Week!

School Pizza Parties and Subbing

I was busy last week!

Monday I subbed Molly's second grade class all day.

Tuesday at 10:30 I helped serve pizzas to all K-2 students as a celebration of being done with all the end-of-year testing the students do. That was quite a task to organize and carry out! I was working on that as a part of PTA. Then that afternoon I was a PE sub having four classes for PE.

Wednesday afternoon I was a PE sub again having four classes - K and 1st grade classes. They can certainly wear a person out, especially someone who's not used to being around that age group all the time!

Thursday I was back to help with the 3-5 pizza parties!

Friday I subbed a third grade class all day. I'm really glad I started subbing this year and wish I'd started it sooner! I've enjoyed it and found that I like the older kids better than the younger kids! The older kids might have a bit of an attitude at times, but they're much easier to corral!

I'm on summer break now, but do look forward to all the PTA things next school year and subbing 1-2 times a week as well!

New Grill!

Ross got a new grill last week! It's a flat top/griddle type grill and we've already used it a few times. We first had hamburgers on it and then had our Japanese steakhouse meal on it. It was so good! On Sunday we cooked breakfast on it - pancakes, hashbrowns, and bacon! It's fun to have new toys!

Being Molly's Teacher!

A few weeks ago I had a fun sub assignment being Molly's second grade teacher! I saw the request pop up on the website where I find sub jobs and thought that would be a fun job to do! I asked Molly if she wanted me to take the job and she said YES! I accepted it but then also emailed her teacher to see if that was okay. I didn't know if there might be rules or something about subbing in your own child's class. She said no, it was fine with her if I subbed it, so I did! It was a fun day and a really good class. There were a few kids who were spot on with what Molly complains....says about them, so that was fun to see firsthand! I look forward to subbing more next school year!

Twice Baked Potato

We had a nice steak dinner for Ross' birthday and he asked for twice baked potatoes. So I made some for him and they turned out really good! I'd never made them before and I was pleasantly surprised at how easy they were to make! I will definitely be making these again!

No More Meals On Wheels

March 9 was my last day to deliver my Meals On Wheels! I have been doing this since December 2020 and have really enjoyed doing it, but decided it was time to take a break. I delivered meals every Thursday morning starting at about 8:45. I would have about 7-8 people to deliver to and became friends with a few. I would often stay and chat for 10-15 minutes with some of the people and enjoyed doing so.

When I decided I wanted to start subbing at school this spring I realized I wouldn't be able to do the meal delivery and subbing, so "turned in my notice" for meal delivery. I'm so glad I did the deliveries, though. I remember hearing that my Aunt Marilee had done this and always thought it sounded neat to do, so I did it! I'm sure it will come around for me to do again sometime in the future!

Silver Dollar City!

We decided to get Silver Dollar City passes this year and went for the first time this season a few weeks ago. It was a beautiful Sunday afternoon and the crowds weren't too bad - the best time to go! We didn't have passes last year, so it's fun to be back this year! There's a cave under Silver Dollar City that you walk through with a tour guide so we decided to do the cave this time. It was fun and I'm glad we did it! I look forward to taking the girls to SDC throughout the summer!

#44

Happy, happy birthday to Ross today! He is 44 - double digits! He's such a great guy. He's very kind and caring and I'm so glad we became friends back in March of 2006! He's a great dad and husband and we are so thankful for him! Happy birthday, Ross!
