Santa brought us windshield washer fluid again this year! Santa has been bringing me windshield washer fluid ever since I turned 16. I'm so glad that Santa continues this tradition and shares it with other drivers who are waking up with us on Christmas morning!
I got to help with Molly's class Christmas party and Ross got to help, too! It was on a day that he took off work for Christmas, so I invited him to come help. It probably wasn't the first thing he wanted to do with his day off, but I think he had fun and was definitely helpful!
The party started with ice cream sundaies and then we played games. We had five stations set up with "minute to win it" type games. The stations were bingo, snow shovel where you had to move pom poms from one bowl to the other using only a spoon in your mouth, reindeer antler toss, stacking dice on a popsicle stick, and moving a cookie from your forehead to your mouth without touching it.
I think it was a fun party overall and the kids had a good time!
For quite a few years now we have had a tradition of having a "Wiseman Family Christmas Party" sometime before Christmas. We go out to eat and then go to Joradan Valley Park to walk around and look at their Christmas lights. The girls also like to play on some rock structures they have. We've eaten at O'Hana's the last few years - a Japanese steakhouse and all really like it. This year it was raining on our Christmas Party night so we had to postpone Jordan Valley Park until after Christmas, but we still had a fun time! After out dinner we drove around to look at Christmas lights and were so excited to find one of the houses we really like was decorated after not having been decorated the year before.
We've also had a tradition of going to Gardens A Glow at the Japanese Stroll Gardens (this is separate form the park I mentioned above). The stroll gardens are always so beautifully decorated and although it's often busy and cold, it's a beautiful place.
Springfield now has a Buc-ee's travel/truck stop and we checked it out over Christmas break! It's by I-44 and Hwy 65, so it's a little bit of a drive for us, but we'd heard how big it was and wanted to see it ourselves...along with everyone else in Springfield! We went the day after Christmas and its was soo busy! It was shoulder-to-shoulder with people inside so we didn't stay long. They advertise their clean restrooms and we didn't even check them out! There are 100 gas pumps and most every single gas pump was busy! It's definitely quite the truck stop!
We had a nice, low-key New Year celebration. On NYE we watched the Chiefs game and then went to a friend's house to hang out that night. We got home at 11pm, which was a bit late for Molly! Poor thing, We had recorded the ball drop from New York, so watched that really quickly and then she was off to sleep! she was so tired. We always bring the girls' mattresses downstairs for them to sleep in the family room on NYE so did that right when we got home. Molly fell asleep right away, but Lucy wanted to stay up until the real midnight so she hung out in bed with us until the clock turned to 12am.
Ross and I woke up to a phone call first thing on January 1 from Lowe's saying out refridgerator delivery was on the way! We'd ordered a new fridge for the upstairs (to move our current fridge to the basement) and it was to be delivered on Jan 1. We had to get up and get dressed right away which wasn't fun, but it was nice not having to wonder all day long what time it would arrive.
We did some stuff around the house and my parents came over later that day so my dad could help Ross move our old fridge to the basement. We bought a new game, Clue, and played that with my mom and then later after dinner the girls and I played Uno Attack with my mom. Overall it was a great way to start out 2024!
