Lucy Has Discovered Frozen

We recorded the movie Frozen on this past Thanksgiving Day. Lucy watched it a little here and there since then, but around Christmastime, she completely discovered it and fell in love with it. Or maybe she fell in obsession with it!

She, as every other little girl in America it seems, LOVES the main song in the movie - Let It Go. She can sing the "let it go" verse very well and tries hard to sing the other words. She does a good job watching it, too. She will stay completely involved in the movie for about the first 30 minutes. After that she loses attention and will get up and play with her toys, but still keeping an eye on the movie.

And anytime a commercial for it comes on tv or she hears any part of "Let It Go" she will stop what she is doing and turns in the direction of where the song is coming from. We have embraced her love for the movie and let her watch it about two times a week. We've also bought her a Frozen shirt that has Elsa and Anna on it, a Frozen water bottle, and my sister gave her two Frozen books along with two pairs of Frozen socks. Lucy LOVES wearing the shirt and socks.

The funniest thing about all of this is that Lucy has learned how to act out a part of the movie. It was the funniest thing to us when we realized what she was doing. There's a part in the movie where Anna is trying to get Elsa to come out of her room and play with her. Anna knocks on the door and says, "Elsa, it's me, Anna." Lucy has learned this and acts it out herself using our front door, her bedroom door, and even the rungs on her crib. It is so funny and cute. We got it on video...enjoy!

If Adults Acted Like Toddlers

Last weekend we were at my sister's house for her 40th birthday party. We brought along Lucy's pajamas to change her into before we left since we would be leaving late. About 20 minutes before we left Lucy found her pajamas in her backpack and brought them to me. I'm guessing she was ready to change into them and go to bed, so I changed her into her pajamas. Then I gave her the cup of milk that she usually has before bed and she spent the rest of the time we were there running around the family room in her pajamas, drinking her milk. Everyone who attended the party (about 25-30 people) was still there and just watching her in her pajamas.

As I was watching her, I had the thought, "what if everyone else here decided it was time to change into their pajamas and did so, sitting around drinking milk out of a sippy cup?." This was such a funny mental image to me! Imagine being with your friends, all adults, and everyone changed into their footed, onesie pajamas for the last 30 minutes or so that they were there. This is so not acceptable for adults, but certainly is for kids! I've seen some articles online on this very topic - things kids can get away with that adults can't. Some of what kids do really isn't acceptable for adults, but can you image how nice it would be if it were okay for us to change into our pajamas before leaving a party, especially if it was late? We could then drive home and go straight to bed!
