Book-It!

Lucy's class is doing the Book-It reading program through Pizza Hut and I am so in love with this! She came home with the note about it at the end of September and I was very excited to find this out. I did the Book-It program when I was in elementary school and very much remember filling out my weekly reading chart at school, getting the certificates for a free personal pan pizza, and also getting my Book-It pin to wear on my jean jacket! I told Lucy about my experience with it, but really did not share my excitement about this!

I told my mom and sister about the program, asking if they remembered me doing this and they both did....probably not in as an exciting of a way like I did, though! They said they remember all the pizzas we ate..... :)

Book-It is a reading program sponsored by Pizza Hut. Each child has a reading goal for the month and once the goal is met, the student gets a certificate for a free personal pan pizza. Lucy's goal is to read 200 minutes for the month, broken down into 20-minute increments for 10 days. Once she completed her October reading goal she turned her chart into her teacher and received a free personal pan pizza certificate! I, again, was so excited about this! I just couldn't wait to go to Pizza Hut for her to get her very own pizza!

My birthday was last Thursday and I got to pick where we went out to eat that night. I can't say that I was really in the mood for pizza, but knew this was my chance to get everyone to eat pizza, so we went to Pizza Hut! I just had my heart set Lucy using that certificate! Lucy got her pizza (which she wasn't very excited about) and I think I satisfied my desire to relive my Book-It program through Lucy! I was actually kind of disappointed because the pizza didn't come out in its own little baking pan like I remember mine coming out in, but rather came out on a plate. Lucy doesn't even really like pizza that much, so hardly ate any of it! We will continue on with the program, but I think I won't be as pushy in getting her to use her certificate from now on as I did for this one!
