Lucy Is 7!

Lucy's 7th birthday was yesterday! It's hard to believe she's already seven! It seems as though the years just fly by! It turned out to be one of the best birthdays ever, I think! Since we are in the middle of the coronavirus pandemic and a statewide stay-at-home order, there was no way I could have a birthday party for her. This was sad to me at first because Lucy absolutely loves her birthdays and start talking about her next birthday the minute her current birthday is over!

We had been planning on a party of her to have some girlfriends over for dinner and a movie and then send them home before bedtime. Well, since that couldn't happen, I planned out a surprise birthday parade for her and asked some of her friends to drive by our house and say happy birthday. It turned out way better than I could have ever hoped for! We were busy all day with friends coming by and some of the friends even stayed and played on our driveway for a bit. That was just the best seeing the girls all playing together and knowing that they had to really enjoy playing together, too. We have been staying at home and not going anywhere since mid-March, so it was time to see people! I'm thankful that the moms who were there yesterday agreed, too!

Some of the girls brought presents (which I'd said no gifts, but am kind of glad they didn't listen to me!) and Lucy's teacher even came by to say hi. It was just the best afternoon! We had Lucy's favorite, chicken and wild rice soup, for dinner and then had a Zoom conference call with our family so they could watch Lucy open her presents and sing happy birthday to her. It was such a wonderful birthday and I know Lucy will remember it for a long time. She had no idea about the parade and was sincerely surprised as people started driving by! At one point she even said, "it's a birthday miracle!" That was just the best!

Lucy was born at 3:26pm. :)

Zoom Happy Birthday

My Dad's 69th birthday was Tuesday, March 31. Since we couldn't get together in person to celebrate due to the pandemic, we all got together on Zoom to celebrate via video conference! We logged in and say my parents, along with my sister and her family. We even lit a candle to blow out after we sang to my dad and made a chocolate cake in a coffee mug to enjoy! It's nice to have technology like this to still be together and celebrate even though we can't be together in person.

Such Drama...

One day we were doing one of Lucy's assignments from her gym teacher. Molly was just not having it at first. I finally got her to do the workout with Lucy, much to her disgust. HAHAHAH! You can watch it here!

10 Years!

Ross and I celebrated 10 years of marriage last Friday, April 17! It's hard to believe 10 years have already gone by and it's hard to believe we celebrated our 10th anniversary in the middle of a pandemic! Ross' work was closed on the 17th for their tax holiday and we had planned to go somewhere for the night (while our kids stayed with my parents) but that obviously didn't happen this year! Instead, Ross spent the day painting our entryway and I spent the day helping the girls with homeschool! We got take out for dinner from one of our favorite places and then rented Trolls World Tour to watch on Amazon Prime that night. All in all, it was a nice day. It was fun thinking back to 10 years ago that day on our absolutely, amazingly perfect wedding day! I'm so thankful to have found Ross and am so thankful for the wonderful husband he is!

Easter 2020

Easter 2020 was a little different than normal this year, but we had a fun day nonetheless! The girls and I dyed Easter eggs on Saturday and I think they turned out really nice looking! Gumma and Poppy stopped by Saturday morning with some surprise Easter baskets for the girls! We had a driveway visit with them for a little bit which was really nice.

The forecast for Easter Sunday was rain, but I was happy to wake up to find a partly sunny sky and no rain! We checked out our Easter baskets and then watched church on TV as out church streamed its service online. We also took communion with the girls and that was a nice time together. After "church" we went outside to take pictures. I recently bought an iPhone tripod and wish I'd done this years ago! It's nice to have pictures that aren't super close up because I'm just holding my arm out! My tripod even came with a clicker that I connect to my phone via Bluetooth so I don't have to use my camera timer. I love the pictures we got and the girls had fun taking some, too. We took a walk around the block and got home just in time for the rain to start. We lazed around the rest of the day and that was about it.

It was different in that we didn't get to go to church, but we still got to celebrate the wonderful meaning of the day:  Jesus rose from the dead just to save you and me!

Lucy wanted us to take this picture with us lined up in order of tallest to shortest! I think it turned out pretty cute!
