Last Saturday was a perfect day weather-wise so Ross and I decided to go golfing. Neither one of us golf, but we thought this would be a great way to spend a beautiful, 70-degree, sunny afternoon. There is an "easy" par-3 golf course on the north side of Springfield that we thought would be a good way for us to break into this game.
We started golfing around 3pm and were done about 4:30. All in all we had a great time. Ross even shot par on one of the holes!

Weekend Travels - Part 2
Part 2 of our Labor Day Weekend Travels....
Saturday we left Larry and Wanda's around 1pm and headed over to DSW shoe store before hitting the road to Omaha. I love this shoe store and since we do not have one in Springfield I try to go to the Kansas City store whenever we are there. There are literally 100s and 100s of shoes - all ready to be taken home! Lucky for me I found a new pair of black dress shoes for the winter!
We arrived at Gramma and Grampa Ward's house around 5pm and then headed out for dinner shortly thereafter. They took us to a place called Jericho's that claims to have the best prime rib in Omaha. And they do have the best prime rib in Omaha! We had a nice, early dinner and then back to the house so Grampa and Ross could go to the neighbor's house to watch the Nebraska football game. (Go Big Red!) Gramma and I had a nice time sitting in the family room chatting the night away. She told me several stories about her childhood, her family and how her and Grampa met and married. I certainly had an enjoyable time!
And again, it was a bit weird staying in the same room with a boy at my grandparents house! I have stayed at their house countless times in the past 31 years but never with a boy! And if we thought we had it bad in the Wiseman's queen-size bed well we had another one coming to us - Gramma and Grampa have a full-size bed in the guest room we slept in! Ross and I were definitely not lacking in cuddle time over the weekend!
Sunday morning we went to Mass with my grandparents. My Grampa is Catholic and they have both been going to a Catholic church for about a year now. This was quite an experience for Ross and I - we had never been to a Catholic mass before. It was so interesting, all the tradition and protocol that was followed. After lunch we went back to the house for lunch. The weather was perfect so we sat outside on the front lawn and visited with my aunt and cousins a little before Ross and I headed home at 3pm. We got home around 8:45 and thoroughly enjoyed sleeping in our king-size bed that night! Monday we worked around the house, did a little shopping and then fixed dinner for my mom and dad later that night. All in all a great long weekend!

Weekend Travels - Part 1
Ross and I decided to take a mini-vacation over Labor Day weekend. We both worked a 1/2 day on Friday and then headed up to Kansas City to visit his parents. We arrived around 4 and relaxed a bit before dinner. After dinner we all headed out to Kauffman Stadium to take in a Royals baseball game. The Royals were winning until about the 7th inning and ended up losing in 2 extra innings. But that night was Friday Fireworks night at Kauffman so we enjoyed a 15-minute fireworks show after the game. It was a beautiful night - clear skies and a slight breeze with temps maybe in the upper 50s/lowers 60s.
This was the first time Ross and I stayed at his parent's house since we've been married. It was fun, but yet weird in a way, us both staying in the room I stayed in by myself before we were married. And this is the first time Ross and I slept in a queen-size bed together. We bought a king-size bed just before we were married so we were a bit worried about or sleeping that night - if we would crowd each other or feel like we had no room. But we found that we slept just fine. :)
Saturday morning Ross' brother and his family came over for breakfast. Wanda fixed bacon, eggs and pancakes and a great fruit spread. We visited for a couple of hours and then Ross and I headed up to Omaha to visit my grandparents.

Bye-Bye Jeep, We Will Miss You
In May 2009 Ross bought a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited and now almost 1 1/2 years later he is selling it. We have been discussing selling it for a while now and decided we should go forward with it. We posted it on Craigslist.com two weeks ago but didn't have any hits. Last Friday night Ross reposted it and received a call Saturday morning. The lady came to look at it Saturday and again on Sunday and said yes she wanted it. Ross met up with her Wednesday afternoon to exchange the title, money and keys.
I'll miss the Jeep - it's what Ross picked me up in when he took me out on our engagement night and what we left the church in on our wedding day! Leave it to a girl to remember those details! :)

From this...
To this...
A few weeks ago I decided it was time to chop my hair. I've been growing it out since the fall of 2006. Now, I have had it trimmed about every couple of months since then, and a few of those times I had one inch taken off instead of the 1/4" for the trim. I thought about cutting it short a few times along the way but decided to keep it growing. Secretly, I think my main goal was to grow it out until I got married and then chop it! I wanted it long for my wedding to be able to style it in an up-due and oh, I had the prettiest wedding hair!
But around the first of August I decided it was time for it to go! I had about 6-7" cut off a couple of weeks ago and now I love it! My only requirement was it had to be long enough to still put up in a ponytail. It was so weird getting used to short hair again, especially when washing and combing my hair.
Now to just get the colored portion of my hair grown off and chopped so my hair is all one color again!

Retro Colonial Blue
Last weekend we continued working on our painting list and checked off the dining/living room. We had planned to paint Saturday morning but when we got home Friday night around 9pm decided to just get it done then. So we started painting around 9:30 and finished around midnight.
The living and dining room are all one room, somewhat separated by two columns. We thought about painting the room two different colors but decided one color in both rooms would be best. We are very pleased with these two rooms! The blue color is so pretty and looks so much better than the plain, boring white walls. Then name of the blue is "Retro Colonial Blue". I love this name! I think the name goes well with our house, as the style of our house seems to be a colonial type.
Enjoy!
