On Sunday, September 11, Ross and I went to the Kansas City Chiefs home opener game. Ross had been to a Chiefs game before, but I had never been to an NFL game before, so this was so much fun! We've talked about going to a game for a while and decided to just do it.
We drove up to Kansas City the morning of the game and got there just in time to see the opening kickoff. It was a beautiful day, but a bit hot for being out in the sun with very minimal shade around us. Unfortunately, the Chiefs didn't play that great and lost. Actually, it was the worst home opener loss in their history! It might not have been a very exciting game, but at least we can say we were at a history-making game!
We drove home after the game and stopped at Gates BBQ for a take-out dinner. All in all it was a very good day!

Engagement Anniversary
On Saturday, August 20, Ross and I celebrated the anniversary of our engagement night. He's so good to me. He knows how dates and celebrating are important to me and is so good to play along and humor me with things like this!
We decided we would eat dinner at Touch, the place he took me on the night we got engaged and the restaurant we had our rehearsal dinner at. He even left me an invitation to dinner, just like he did two years ago!
We wore the same clothes we wore that night and had a great dinner at Touch. After dinner we drove to "our" park and Ross had surprises for me just like he did that night! I am one lucky girl to have someone as thoughtful, kind, supportive, caring, and nice as Ross!

The Mad Dash
I was leaving work the other day and almost laughed out loud at what I saw: Several adults, most of them older than me, making a mad dash out of the work doors and to their cars. Some even appeared to have a slight trot or skip in their step. And I'm not ashamed to say, I was one of them. There's just nothing like seeing the magic numbers, 4:30, come up on my computer or the computer kiosk I clock in and out on, knowing I'm finally free for the day!

26.2 #3
I'm currently training for my third marathon, the San Antonio Rock 'n Roll Marathon on Sunday, November 13, 2011. One of my goals for 2011 has been to run two half marathons or one half and one full marathon. I ran the St. Louis Half Marathon earlier this year in April, and decided to go for the full this fall instead of another half.
My official training program began in July, and ever since my early Saturday mornings have been spent running. I begin my runs around 5:30am, due to the heat and humidity we've had this summer. It's hard to run when it's 75 degrees outside at 5:30am without the heat of the sun. I can't imagine what it would be like to start at 8:00am with a higher temperature and the sun beating down on me.
Running a marathon is definitely a time commitment. I run four miles every Monday morning, and started with five miles on Wednesday mornings, increasing the run by one mile every other week, up to 10 miles a few weeks before the race. Saturday mornings are my long runs. The first long run started with six miles and will slowly work up to 24 miles a few weeks before the marathon.
I'm running the marathon by myself and for the most part am training by myself. The past two Saturdays I've had a friend meet up with me to help me finish the run. This was certainly helpful. Once the weather cools off I'll probably start a little later, maybe 6:00am instead of 5:30am, and Ross will meet me along the course after I'm about two hours in. This is perfect for him - he still gets to sleep in, but also gets to help me out, too!
We're going to make a vacation out of the San Antonio trip. We'll drive to San Antonio on Thursday, tour the city on Friday and Saturday, and run the marathon on Sunday. We'll begin our drive home Sunday afternoon, stopping in Dallas for the evening, and finish the drive on Monday.

One Last Summer Hoorah!
A few weekends ago, Ross and I went out to my parents, along with Stephanie and her kids (Nathan was at a retreat), to swim our Saturday away. It was a hot day and it was so nice to just relax around the pool. My Dad put in the pool when I was a little girl and I have gotten so much enjoyment out of it over the years. When I was little I liked to swim, and swim, and swim. Now that I'm older I prefer to lounge around the pool deck and suntan, and jump in the pol when I get too hot. We had a fun day together and then enjoyed dinner at T.G.I. Friday's and dessert at Orange Leaf.

Cody LOVES to be thrown up in the air like this. |

I have a favorite new website: Pinterest.com. This is the neatest site. Basically, it's a place to organize and share things you find on the web. You create pinboards based on categories (cooking, crafts, clothing, etc.) and then "pin" your find to that pinboard. My explanation does not do it justice, please go there and discover it for yourself!
