Christmas Eve 2019

We had a very nice Christmas Eve, even though Lucy was sick! She came down with a fever the evening of 12/23 and it didn't break until Christmas night. She was a trooper, though, and celebrated with us through her fever. We had planned to go to the Christmas Eve service at our church, but had to stay home instead. Molly helped me set the table for dinner and did a fantastic job! She was so proud of herself and a great help!

Gumma and Poppy came over to spend the night with us and we had a nice dinner together, then we did our annual Christmas Eve tradition of reading the Christmas story out of the Bible by candlelight. We started this maybe 3-4 years ago and I love that we do it! We turn the lights off and Ross reads the story while we hold candles. After he reads the story we always sing Silent Night. It's always a nice time!

This year we added something to our Christmas Eve festivities that I'm sure will become a tradition, too: We sat around the piano and sang Christmas songs accompanied on the piano by Lucy. It was a lot of fun and she did a great job playing for us! You can watch here!

After our singing we got the girls ready for bed, opened a few presents, took our annual pictures in front of the tree, and got our stockings all ready for Santa! The girls put out cookies, a carrot, and some milk, and also put some reindeer food on the deck. It was a great Christmas Eve!
