Christmas 2019

We had a nice Christmas day this past season. Lucy had a fever all day so we couldn't go to my sister's in the afternoon as planned, but we made the most of it anyway! The girls were very excited when they woke up, but were not very excited at all to wait on the stairs for a bit before they could go see what Santa left them! I remember as a kid that we always had to wait for my parents to get all ready before we could go out and see what was left for us. It was killer having to wait! I don't have any bad feelings about making my kids wait like that now...it's sort of like a rite of passage as a kid, don't you think?! :)

They were excited to find Santa had left them exactly what they had asked him for. Lucy got hand sanitizer, an OMG LOL doll, and a picture frame. Molly got an OMG LOL doll and some Legos without instructions. We took turns opening all our presents this year instead of everyone opening at once. This went over very well and I was quite proud of the girls as they waited patiently for their present opening turn to come around again.

After we were done opening presents we surprised each of them with a new bike! We found a great black Friday deal on bikes and Gumma and Poppy graciously got them for the girls. Before these bikes we only had Lucy's bike, which she got when she turned three. Her bike fits Molly perfectly now, but is way too small for Lucy. Usually we would just have Molly use the hand-me-down bike, but decided it would be nice for her to have her own new one, too. Both girls were excited for the bikes and we look forward to riding them more this spring and summer.

Gumma and Poppy left in the afternoon and went to Joplin to celebrate with the Herndons. We stayed at home and watched Toy Story 4, then had dinner. All in all it was a great Christmas!
