Happy 60th birthday to my Dad! He and my Mom are 16 days apart, which my Dad loves, especially this birthday since he was still 59 when she turned 60!
My Dad is my hero, and to quote my nephew Trevor, "Poppy can do anything." That's right, my Dad can do anything, and if he doesn't know how to do it, he'll figure out how to do it!
Happy Birthday Dad! I love you!

Where I Work
You've seen my husband and I together in pictures, you've seen our house in pictures, now it's time for you to see where I work in pictures!
For the past 6 1/2 years, I have worked at the Assemblies of God Headquarters office. More specifically, I work in the U.S. Missions office as a Promotions and Events Coordinator. I work 8-4:30, Monday-Friday, and often times get to leave early on Friday. You can't beat that!
I have several different job duties, my favorite being to coordinate events hosted by U.S. Missions. I love to plan, so this is right up my alley! I work with the event venue to secure meeting room space, meals, special needs, etc.
Each month I put together our missionary newsletter and AGUSM Board newsletter, mail thank you letters (I'm very good at stuffing envelopes), update our Facebook and Twitter pages, send all specs to designers when designing a new piece or ad, submit projects to print, research and order giveaway items, coordinate booth shipping for district councils, and lots of other miscellaneous tasks.
All in all, I have a pretty good job and am very thankful for it.

I'm so glad to have an actual office and not a cubicle! |

Pearls - So Pretty & Classic
Today I'm wearing my pearl earrings, pearl necklace, and pearl bracelet. I absolutely LOVE my pearls! I think pearls go good with anything and are just so classic. They are so feminine and lady-like. I love them!
I got my pearl earrings from a very dear friend for my college graduation, and kind of stumbled upon getting my pearl necklace. About a month after Ross and I got engaged we stopped in at Mitchum Jewelers, where Ross bought my ring, to get my ring cleaned. I saw they had a promotion going on where you get a free pearl necklace or earrings when you open a Mitchum Jewelers credit card. I knew that when Ross bought my ring he opened the in-store credit card due to the good financing program they had. I showed him the sign and said too bad that deal wasn't going on when you bought my ring. The saleslady heard our conversation and said that it was going on when he bought the ring, and asked me if I wanted a necklace or earrings. I said a necklace, since I already had the earrings. So excited!
And to complete my set, Ross gave me a pearl bracelet for Christmas last year. I love my pearls!

Snow Hike
There was a 1.5 mile hiking trail very close to our resort so we decided to go on for a hike on the last day of our trip. It was actually considered a "snowshoe trail" meaning you should wear snowshoes on this particular trail. We didn't have snowshoes, and didn't want to rent them, so figured we'd be fine in our tennis shoes.
And we were fine until we decided to venture off the "shoveled" path.
We decided to take "senior pictures" in the snow. (Just taking silly poses, like you would find in senior pictures. We've done this a few times before and have fun with it.) Well, to take the pictures we walked off of the trail and into the snow, closer to the trees. We quickly realized how deep the snow was. It was deep. I mean REALLY deep!
It was the oddest thing, taking a step and instead of my foot landing on something solid, it just kept sliding down, farther into the snow. At one point the snow was about waist-high on me and on Ross! It was quite challenging, and quite funny, trying to work our way back to the walking path. This made for such a fun time!
Enjoy our pictures!

Ski Trip
We left dark and early at 2:30am Thursday morning (February 24) for Colorado. A friend from our church coordinated the trip, and in order to get the excellent rate that we did, we had to share a room with another couple. They also drove with us to Colorado, which cut our gas expense in half!
We picked up Cara and Ethan, and hit the road. It rained on us off and on, fairly hard at times, for about the first hour and then cleared up. We stopped as needed for bathroom breaks and food, and arrived in Winter Park around 3:30pm. We were so glad to be out of the car and "home" for a few days!
We took a nap, had dinner and then picked up our skis, boots, and poles, then off to bed!
Friday, our first day of skiing, turned out to be a good day. The temperature at the base of the mountain was maybe around 30 degrees or so, and it snowed on us all day long. It did get much colder the farther up the mountain we went, but thanks for our friends loaning us ski-wear, we stayed nice and warm. I enjoyed the snow, it just fit the atmosphere! Ross quickly found out how s-l-o-w of a skier I am, and has renamed the slopes to slowpes! I stayed on the green routes, and Ross ventured out to try a few blue routes. The sun was shining for Saturday and Sunday. We skied all day Friday and Saturday, and about a half day on Sunday.
We left around 4am Monday morning to head back to Springfield. We were very thankful for perfect traveling weather. Along the way we decided to stop in Kansas City to get Gate's BBQ to take home for dinner! It was so nice pulling into our driveway around 6:45 that night. We love to vacation, but we also love to be home!

"Working" From Home
I came home from work one day to find this:
Ross was in his Man Cave playing XBOX. Now him playing his XBOX isn't unusual - he does that a lot and enjoys it. The unusual thing is that it was maybe 4:45pm, and he said he had been playing for about an hour.
His work hours are 8am-5pm, which meant he was technically still on the clock!
But I guess you could say that he was still working . . . the computer in the bottom left of the picture is his work computer. He had it there to make sure he didn't miss any new assignments coming in.
This scene just made me laugh! Ross works from home. He doesn't have an office to report to every day, just his home office. His assignments are emailed to him as they are reported to the main office, and he takes off from home to do his work. His days are very random, meaning one day he could be slammed and work overtime, and the next day he might have only one assignment for the whole day. I guess this particular day was a slow day!

Knitted Baby Sweater
I have been knitting for quite a while. In fact, it was in August 1988 while watching the Republican National Convention on TV that I first learned to knit. My mom has always knitted and I don't remember if I asked, or if she just decided to teach me how, but I learned and have been knitting dishcloths ever since. I like to knit while watching TV, and have several extra dishcloths on hand! I give them as gifts, let my friends take some when they want, and have even sold them in my Dad's pharmacy! I do enjoy knitting the dishcloths, but last fall I decided it was time to branch out and learn something new.
I checked out a knitting book from the library, not realizing it was full of patterns for baby blankets, baby hats, baby clothes, etc. I found a pattern for a Baby Boatneck Sweater that seemed fairly easy and decided to try it out. I started on it around the first of January, worked on it off and on, and finally finished it February 5. I am so proud of this little sweater! I think it turned out very good, especially for my first one. The knitting portion really wasn't hard. It was just knitting with a different stitch and keeping track of the number of rows and stitches I had. The hardest part was thinking through how to sew it all together.
I think the best part of this project was getting a reaction of "oohh, that's cute" from Ross! My next knitting project is a little baby dress.
P.S. This sweater was not knitted for me, at least for anytime soon. No baby in the Wiseman house yet!
