Ski Trip

We left dark and early at 2:30am Thursday morning (February 24) for Colorado. A friend from our church coordinated the trip, and in order to get the excellent rate that we did, we had to share a room with another couple. They also drove with us to Colorado, which cut our gas expense in half!

We picked up Cara and Ethan, and hit the road. It rained on us off and on, fairly hard at times, for about the first hour and then cleared up. We stopped as needed for bathroom breaks and food, and arrived in Winter Park around 3:30pm. We were so glad to be out of the car and "home" for a few days!

We took a nap, had dinner and then picked up our skis, boots, and poles, then off to bed!

Friday, our first day of skiing, turned out to be a good day. The temperature at the base of the mountain was maybe around 30 degrees or so, and it snowed on us all day long. It did get much colder the farther up the mountain we went, but thanks for our friends loaning us ski-wear, we stayed nice and warm. I enjoyed the snow, it just fit the atmosphere! Ross quickly found out how s-l-o-w of a skier I am, and has renamed the slopes to slowpes! I stayed on the green routes, and Ross ventured out to try a few blue routes. The sun was shining for Saturday and Sunday. We skied all day Friday and Saturday, and about a half day on Sunday.

We left around 4am Monday morning to head back to Springfield. We were very thankful for perfect traveling weather. Along the way we decided to stop in Kansas City to get Gate's BBQ to take home for dinner! It was so nice pulling into our driveway around 6:45 that night. We love to vacation, but we also love to be home!

Not too bad for 2am!
This was the outside of our condo.

Walking into the resort village.
Such a good picture! I love how you can see the snow falling!

Great vacation "digs"; beautiful scenery! Beautiful with falling snow; temps sound perfect! You both look like "skiers" at whatever speed! Sounds like a fun weekend! PTL for safety on the slopes and the roads...for friends, finances, the fun of a 'get away' extended weekend....and Home Sweet Home! We loved hearing about it and seeing your beautiful pix! Luv U..
