Human Hungy, Hungy Hippo

Remember the game Hungy, Hungy Hippos? Wikipedia defines it as: a tabletop game made for 2-4 players with the purpose of the game being for each player to collect as many marbles as possible with his or her 'hippo'.

I remember playing this game as a little girl and played it again last week in my boot camp class with my students acting as the hippos! It was so much fun and so funny!

One of the girls in my class posted a video to our Facebook page of some other class playing a human form of Hungry, Hungry, Hippos so we decided to try it ourselves. It was really pretty easy to set up and fairly easy to play. We used scooters (which the gym had) to roll out to the balls in the center and diaper boxes to collect the balls. The people in the video we got the idea from had used laundry baskets to collect the balls, but I didn't have enough so thought the boxes would work okay, and they did.

It was pretty fun and a good workout, too. The person on the scooter had to roll themselves out to the balls and collect the balls then their partner pulled them back in, making for a decenter overall body workout. Enjoy our video!!
